Over the recent times, there has been a trend on the research based revenue generation model in many IITs/NITs and this trend is fast catching up in several such CFTIs. While it is difficult to argue at this point on its justification, its strict enforcement is taking a toll on certain areas of research, such as theoretical computing. For example, it is difficult to generate revenue when one developes an "really" novel algorithm (in any area of computer science). Did Djikstra's algorithm have an immediate revenue outcome!!! Think not. While it is true that revenue generation is important for the sustenance of the premiere educational institutions, but afterall they are educational institutes dedidcated to imparting top-quality education. Therefore, to some extent there should be a difference between an educational institute and an industry. Therefore, it is very important to have a "perfect" amalgation of education and industry sector. While the former brings up ideas, the later implements it. However, the true scenario is very different in several countries.
