Understand that the work you’re doing NOW is what sets up the work you do NEXT! Be great at where you are now…consistently! Edward Jones II is 💯% right, we are always looking to see who’s making strides in familiar spaces to see that impact made at the next level
DO THE WORK WHERE YOU ARE! One of the best ways to get noticed by others is being great where you are currenlty in your career. There are multiple stories about this, but one of my favorite stories in regard to "being where your feet are" is Alexander Martin. He started in student affairs at the U, then transitioned to athletics, and the Miami Dolphins saw the impact he was having in his city in the roles he was in. Don't feel discouraged where you are, great impact is always noticed. Keep doing the work. Some college basketball players choose not to have their names on the back of their jerseys. 🏀 This decision is often a personal choice and may reflect the player's humility or team-first mentality. #CollegeBasketball #TeamPlayer For many athletes, wearing a jersey without their name on it is a way to prioritize the team over individual recognition. It can symbolize a focus on collective success rather than personal glory. 🏆 #Teamwork #Humility Additionally, some players view their jersey number as their true identifier on the court, believing that it holds more significance than their name. This underscores the importance of their role within the team and their commitment to representing that number to the best of their ability. #JerseyNumber #Identity Ultimately, the decision to have a name on the jersey or not is a personal one for college basketball players. Whether they choose to display their name or not, the jersey remains a powerful symbol of unity and camaraderie within the team. 🤝 #Unity #Camaraderie

It's no secret that high schools on Colorado's Western Slope struggle to compete for championships at the highest levels. But the Montrose Red Hawks are different. And for three years I've wondered why that is. Now that Montrose is playing for the 4A state title today, I looked to answer that question. The three key ingredients to Montrose's secret sauce: 1. Colorado has a Public School of Choice law that allows parents to enroll their kids into any public school they wish, no matter where they live. In larger cities in the state, that means athletes are divvied up in between schools. But Montrose is a one-school city and the largest of two schools in the county. 2. Montrose operates a Wing-T offense that relies on discipline and surgical execution. You can get away without having top-shelf athletes. 3. Montrose is a football town that bleeds black and red, and a coaching staff that goes out of its way to build a community has had little turnover in the seven years since Brett Mertens has taken over. All of that creates the perfect cocktail for success. #sportsjournalism #localjournalism
