There are 20 groups working to support women and close the diversity gap in tech. According to recent data representation of women in IT is trending in the wrong direction. In 2022 more than half of companies lost 20% of their tech workforce to attrition, with women leaving at a higher rate than men. Such issues have played a large role in the rise of organisations focused on empowering and supporting women in tech roles. How I support women in tech! I was having a conversation recently, where a candidate asked what do I ACTUALLY do to support women in tech. Which made me realise I've never come on here and explicitly outlined what I do. There's a few different ways, firstly by finding women in tech new roles - I only work with women within the industry and partner solely with companies who actively care about diversity, equality and closing the gender gap in tech. I'm also currently in the process of launching a newsletter and LinkedIn group for women in the industry to get involved with initiatives and get regular content around what's going on within the women in tech community (message me if you'd like more info on this) Finally, in the future, we plan to host events, that bring women in tech together to share experiences and empower each other, as well as setting up a mentoring/career/advice program :) I'm constantly looking for new ways to help and support women in the industry, if you have any ideas on what else I could be doing, let me know below! #womenintech #DEI #closethegendergap

As we mark International Women's Day 2024, the tech industry will be talking about what they're doing to support female employees, as well as the equality, diversity and inclusion policies that they have in place. While we’ve certainly made progress, it’s apparent that we are not doing enough as an industry. I’m not satisfied; Women are still underrepresented in the technology workforce, especially at the highest levels. Data from LinkedIn cited in the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap 2023 report shows that the proportion of women in C-suite positions in tech businesses stands at just 20%. What's more, the number of women in senior leadership positions in tech companies has barely changed since 2016. There are simply still not enough female leaders in tech. We know that diverse perspectives lead to better business outcomes. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.” Of all the things I’m proud of in my career, I’m most proud of the teams I’ve built, the women I’ve mentored, and the growth I’ve helped inspire, including here at OpenX. Thank you to all of the women who have trusted me to lead and mentor. Thank you to those who have mentored me to get me to where I am today.
