Actor Tyler Perry—portraying his wise Madea alter ego—once shared a brilliant framing for thinking about your relationships. There are three types of people in your life: Leaves: These are the people that are only around from time to time when the weather is good. They blow around as the winds change. They provide shade during the summer, but as soon as winter comes, they fall off the tree and disappear. Branches: These are the people who are more present and stable than the leaves, but they aren't permanent. They look strong, but if you try to stand on them or pull yourself up from them, they may break under your weight. Roots: These are the people who are permanent. They are deep and wide. They are there in the summer and the winter, they are unperturbed by the changing seasons. The leaves and branches may come and go, but the roots are there forever. I love this perspective. There's nothing wrong with having leaves and branches in your life. When times are good, these people can bring joy to your world. But never make the mistake of thinking they will be there during the bad. The most important question: Who are your roots? Who are the people who will be there through good and bad? Who are the people who will sit in the mud with you? Find them. Cherish them. Sahil Bloom

BRUTAL words from actor Anthony Hopkins: Let go of the people who are not ready to love you. It is the hardest thing you'll have to do in your life and it will be the most important thing. Stop having difficult conversations with people who don't want to change. Stop showing up for people who aren't interested in your presence. I know your instinct is to do whatever it takes to gain the appreciation of the people around you, but it's an impulse that robs your time, energy, mental and physical health. When you start fighting for a life of joy, interest and commitment, not everyone will be willing to follow you there. It doesn't mean you have to change who you are, it means you have to let go of people who are not ready to be with you. If you are excluded, offended, forgotten or ignored by the people you give your time to, you are not doing yourself a favor by continuing to offer them your energy and life. Truth is, you ain't for everyone and not everyone is for you. This is what makes it so special about meeting people you have friendship or love with. You will know the value of it because you have experienced what it isn't. There are billions of people on this planet and many of them will find them on your level of interest and commitment. If you stop showing up, maybe they won't look for you. When you stop trying, the relationship ends. If you stop texting, your phone might stay dark for weeks. It doesn't mean you ruined the relationship, it's just that the only thing that kept it going was the energy you only gave to keep it. This is not love, this is connection. It's giving a chance to those who didn't deserve it! You deserve much more. The most valuable thing you own in your life is your time and energy because both are limited. The people and things you give your time and energy to will define your existence. When you realize this, you start to understand why you are so anxious about spending time with people, activities, or spaces that don't suit you or shouldn't be around you. You will start to realize that the most important thing you can do for yourself and everyone around you is to protect your energy more fiercely than anything else. Make your life a safe haven where only people who are "compatible" with you are allowed. You're not responsible for saving someone. It’s not your responsibility to convince them to do better. It’s not your job to exist for people and give them your life!

Again I don’t know how true this is, but I like it….. #mapps Michael Caine on his defining philosophy on life: Use the Difficulty As a young actor, he was rehearsing a play scene when a chair got stuck in the door and blocked his path. He told the other actor he couldn't get by the chair to enter the room in the scene. The actor's response: "Use the difficulty...if it's a comedy, fall over it, if it's a drama, pick it up and smash it." This idea—of using the difficulty—became a defining mantra for Michael Caine's life. "There's never anything so bad that you cannot use that difficulty...if you can use it a quarter of one percent to your advantage, you're ahead, you didn't let it get you down." This idea hit me hard... How can you use the difficulty you're currently facing? How can you embrace the struggle? How can you find flow through the friction? How can you sow the seeds of your light during the periods of darkness? As with everything in life, control the controllable: The difficulty is already there, you can't control it. You can control how you react to it. You can control your response to it. You can control your attitude towards it. Lesson: Difficulty is inevitable. Use it.

ARC and SDT and its basic psychological needs theory are worth exploring further. According to the article, "ARC is a core insight of 'self-determination theory.' It was developedin the 1980sby psychologists Edward Deci and Richard Ryan, and it revolutionized the way we understand motivation. Decades of research have confirmed its importance." I am only learning about it now. Yet, it has apparent similarity to well-established motivation I am familiar with, like Maslow's, Mc Clelland's, Porter's, and educational theories like Bloom's taxonomy.
Actor, former professional bodybuilder & politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger promotes #selfdeterminationtheory https://lnkd.in/epW-d2EU

Bollywood movies, ladies and gentlemen, teach us five invaluable life lessons, and trust me, they’re game-changers. Ready for some enlightenment? Twins – If you ever spot identical twins, don’t worry. One of them is guaranteed to be evil. It’s just science, obviously. Bomb Diffusion – Don’t stress over diffusing bombs. Apparently, in Bollywood Bubble you can cut any wire—blue, red, green—it doesn’t matter! Nothing will happen. Hollywood should really take notes on that one. The Detective Dilemma – A detective will only be able to solve a case after he gets suspended from duty. So, if you’re ever in doubt about solving crimes, just get yourself kicked off the force. It works every time! Heroic Pain – The hero feels zero pain after getting the life beaten out of him in an epic fight scene, but once his heroi (aka shirt) gets torn, brace yourselves, the agony kicks in. Priorities, right? Street Dancing – And the grand finale: Break into a random dance routine in the middle of the street, and suddenly, the whole city knows the choreography. It’s like Bollywood characters are born with a dance GPS. But let’s not stop there, folks. Let’s discuss the sheer brilliance of Bollywood hypocrisy. They’ve taken it to a level so high, it’s almost awe-inspiring. It’s incomparable. Whenever I feel the need to laugh at life’s absurdity, Bollywood’s hypocrisy is my favorite target. After all, these stars aren’t from another planet—they’re born here, right amongst us, spewing their nonsense into the world. And of course, the pigs in the audience gets pleasure jitters beacuse their IQ remained at 40 when they were watching HRX by Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. Oh, they’ll just lap it all up, worshipping these “icons” for their so-called “great work.” The hilarious part? These actors think they’re doing us a service. But over time, we’ve finally come to understand the depth of their “greatness.” They can’t even master the art of copying! Apparently, it's too much to ask for Bollywood to directly copy a Hollywood, Chinese, or Japanese movie correctly. I mean, that requires competence—something Bollywood clearly misplaces. So here we are, stuck in a loop of laughable content and misplaced bravado. Classic Bollywood. #BoycottHypocricy #Boycottbollywood

25 philosophies of comedy king Charlie Chaplin… 1 Nothing in this world is permanent, including your problems. 2 Every day that fails to teach is useless. 3 Laughter is the cure for pain! Laughter is the cure for pain, laughter is the cure for your pain. 4 All dreams come true. After many injuries. 5 Smile when your heart hurts. Make other people laugh when their heart hurts...! 6 Smile even when your heart hurts. Smile even if it breaks. 7 My pain may bring laughter to some. But surely my laughter will not hurt anyone. 8 I have many problems, but my lips do not know them all. It will be smiling. 9 Money can give us everything. But money cannot give back some of what poverty has taken from us. 10 The mirror is my friend because it doesn't laugh when I cry. 11 Forget about craving. But don't forget what you want. 12 Your pain can make many people laugh. But your laughter should not hurt even one. 13 Reward and praise are for the fake. Truth is only a consolation prize. 14 Always likes to walk wet in the rain. Because no one can see the tears in my eyes. 15 You Can't Always See The Rainbow… If Your Eyes Are Down! 16 I forget my tears when I see my friends smile, I forget my laughter when I see my friends' tears. 17 The meaning of life is not to be sought, but to be experienced. 18 Life laughs at you when you're not happy. It smiles at you when you are happy. But life worships you when you make others happy. 19 Just leave yourself alone… Life is beautiful. 20 Smile and see… Life is meaningful! 21 Don't be afraid of discussions, conflicts or problems. Even if the sky collapses, a new world will be born from it. Such is life. 22 Be thorough about yourself at least once
