TIP OF THE WEEK: Halloween is during the work week this year which allows businesses the opportunity to have a little fun, build morale, and break away from the everyday monotony of work. If you allow your staff to dress up in costume, there are a few things you may want to remind them about ahead of time: 1 – Keep it classy. Costumes in the office should not be risqué or overly gory and should not be offensive to others, whether it be other staff or customers and clients. 2 – Be mindful of tragic events, religious innuendos, or culturally based costumes. 3 – Consider your job and what you need to do throughout the day – can you still function in your costume? Does your costume go against the goals and mission of the company? 4 – Think about your future with the company or your future career in general. Do you want to wear something that may come back to haunt you and your career goals in the future? 5 – Remind staff that participating in the festivities and/or dressing up in costume is optional. There shouldn’t be any “party pooper” comments directed at anyone that does not wish to participate for whatever reason. #halloweenintheworkplace #officeetiquette #pivotgrowthpartners #pivotgrowth
