Cars introduced batteries in 1918 and gradually became popular by 1920, when the battery voltage was 6V. Later, with the increase of internal combustion engine displacement and the emergence of high compression ratio internal combustion engines, the 6V system could no longer meet the demand, so the 12V system was introduced in 1950. In 1988, SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) proposed raising the standard voltage to 42V. However, due to various limitations such as the level of technology at that time and the high cost of replacing electrical components, there were few responders. Later, with the increase of electrical equipment, batteries could no longer meet the power demand of vehicle equipment. Therefore, automotive companies adopted the method of cutting off high-power loads to reduce the load on batteries. With the introduction of start stop function in the configuration, the 12V voltage system has basically reached the power output limit. If a light hybrid system is introduced at 12V voltage, the power demand is around 10kW~15kW, with power=voltage x current. If the 10kW~20KW power required for light hybrid is to be output, using 12V requires the battery's output current to reach 1000A, which is obviously not realistic. Therefore, increasing the voltage is imperative. So in 2011, Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche, and Volkswagen jointly launched a 48V in car system to meet the growing demand for in car loads, and more importantly, to comply with strict emission regulations in 2020. And subsequently, the 48V system specification LV148 was released. The 48V power system can store more electricity than the 12V power system. In vehicles equipped with a start stop system, the engine can be turned off for a long time, reducing the occurrence of low battery power and frequent engine charging, thereby avoiding wasting too much fuel. #CableHarnessManufacturers #CableHarnessManufacturers #CableHarness #WireHarness #componentsdistribution #supplychainmanagerment #Electronicswholesale #Electronicsmanufacturing #globalsourcing #componentsSourcing #connectorssupplier #connectorsdistribution

In the long history of the automobile industry, new energy and electrification have always been two complementary concepts. Although they are often mentioned, many people are not very clear about their true meaning and differences. New energy refers specifically to electric vehicles, while electrification refers to the increasing use of electricity in vehicles to replace traditional mechanical and hydraulic systems. In 1907, electric trucks appeared on the streets of London, England. The news at that time also called this new energy, which marked an initial attempt at electrification. However, due to the monopoly of oil, electrification was not widely developed at that time. In recent years, when powertrains began to become electric again, electrification was proposed again. In fact, decades ago, when 12V lead-acid batteries were first introduced into automobiles, it marked the beginning of the era of automobile electrification. This change laid the foundation for subsequent technological advancements. Subsequently, electronic fuel injection systems (electronic injection) gradually replaced traditional carburetors, a change that not only improved fuel efficiency but also reduced emissions. In the 1980s, Intel and Bosch jointly developed the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus for electronic control units (ECUs). This innovation greatly promoted the development of automotive wiring harness technology and enabled vehicle electronic systems to communicate and collaborate more efficiently. The electrification of cars continues to accelerate over time. The electronic control of the vacuum brake pump is another important milestone, further improving vehicle safety and performance. By 2010, with the integration of Internet technology, the concept of smart cockpit emerged, making the car not only a means of transportation, but also a mobile information processing center. The electrical bus is beginning to take on more and more additional functions, such as navigation, entertainment systems, in-vehicle communications, etc. Today, when we talk about electric vehicles, we are actually talking about the electrification of the powertrain, a key branch in the process of vehicle electrification. The popularity of electric vehicles has given the public a more intuitive understanding of electrification. In this process, automobile wiring harnesses play a vital role. They are like the nervous system of the vehicle, responsible for connecting the central controller with various electronic control units to ensure the accurate transmission of information and energy. #automotive #wiringharness #cableharness #wiringassembly

Efficiency is the fundamental goal of electric vehicle development. This is especially true of power electronics, where one increasingly adopted approach is integrating multiple functions into the same package. For automotive OEMs, this can result in reductions in overall weight to increase the vehicle’s efficiency while also reducing the cost of production.

Nice read on Auto sector from Bosch perspective. Here is few key points from this article. Highlight is- "German auto components giant is not ready to abandon the traditional, ICE platform yet." Bosch, has decided to remain technologically open, combine various technologies in a smarter way, and offer compelling solutions to their OEM customers. Views on Software defined Vehicle (SDV)- It anticipates continued innovations in hardware as well. They come from the world of hardware with embedded software, therefore they have a view that whoever thinks the future is software-only, is mistaken. View on Electric Vehicle: Bosch is convinced that [while] electrification will make its way, it will not be a linear transformation. And the key reason behind this is that the development of EV infrastructure has not occurred at the pace that it should have. https://lnkd.in/gdFGEqEg
