You might be surprised that the #1 complaint we hear from healthcare team members is a lack of communication. Or you might not… It manifests differently across practices but creeps in even when owners and managers have the best intentions – generally because people are busy keeping on top of everything! Some ideas to keep communication flowing with your team: 💡 A morning/weekly team huddle – share wins and info about what’s coming up and seek input about new ideas or challenges needing resolution. 💡 A regular internal newsletter/update. It doesn’t have to be long or pretty, just include content like life events, new people joining the team and services being added. 💡 Sharing your vision, mission and the goals you’re working towards over the coming 6-12 months. 💡 A noticeboard in your tearoom with patient cards, photos, and info about the next social catch-up. 💡 Internal training and development, including lunch or dinner, where your team eats together and learns something new from one of your clinicians or lifestyle support, such as how to budget or invest. 💡 Facilitate feedback – in both directions - through performance reviews, allocated time in team meetings and surveys. Implementing these will take time, but the returns in culture, motivation and productivity will be worth the investment! Are you using your training time investment to help develop/refine resources like your practice manual? Undoubtedly, you and your team invest a lot of time and energy in each new starter. And it’s often at a time when you’re short-staffed – the reason you’re expanding the team… To capitalise on the time spent plus prepare your new team member to perform the role, the training process can present an excellent opportunity to review your training resources and practice or admin manual! Most new starters make lots of notes in their early days. If you don’t already have a manual, their training can include typing these notes. Reviewing what they create, you’ll also spot gaps in their knowledge. If you already have written content, the trainee can be running through this as they’re being trained, and together you can ensure the content reflects the most up-to-date way you do things. The result will be a trained staff member, plus a refined practice manual 🚀 For more healthcare HR management tips and tricks, follow this link https://lnkd.in/g4BSXTWT #HRManagement #HealthcareLeaders #Documentation
