"To maintain neutrality and ensure a fair evaluation, a complex prompt was generated by another powerful LLM and subsequently tested by the same LLM." Folks, just imagine a competition between two super-smart machines! # The Challenge: Brain Power Test! Both AI's (GPT 4o and Xdash AI) were given a same complex task that required them to understand things, be creative, and solve problems: 1. They had to summarize a story 2. Add a surprising twist 3. Translate it to another language 4. Explain science simply 5. Write a conversation with feelings, and 6. Come up with a solution to a made-up problem. # GPT 4o: Deep Thinking Champion GPT 4o went all-in on details, making the story long and interesting. It translated perfectly to French, explained science like you wouldn't believe, and wrote a conversation that showed it understands emotions. Its solution to the problem was very careful and safe. # Xdash AI: Clear and Creative Thinking Champion Xdash AI, on the other hand, kept things clear and creative. It added a new character named Maya to the story, making it more exciting. The translation was perfect, and its explanation of science was easy to understand. The conversation between characters showed different ideas, and its solution was both smart and practical. The Winner? Both Are Winners! Both AI's did amazing! Anthropic released Claude-3 yesterday, which has dethroned OpenAI's GPT-4 to become the most capable AI model *yet*. Why is this important? We use benchmarks to evaluate the performance of these AI models on a wide range of cognitive tasks, and among these benchmarks is GPQA (Graduate-level Q&A), on which Claude-3 (with 60% accuracy) blew GPT-4 (with 33% accuracy) out of the park. And it took less than an year. Now extrapolate this improvement to think about the progress possible in the coming 3-5 years. To describe how significant this improvement from yesterday is, I'm quoting the author of the GPQA benchmark: "it's hard for me to understate how hard these questions are—literal PhDs (in different domains from the questions) with internet access internet get 34%. PhDs in the same domain (with internet access!) get 65 - 75% accuracy." Claude3 currently does as well as PhDs in the same domain! A few weeks ago, I wrote my thoughts on the current AI capabilities and how we need to think about the coming years. Now seems like a good time to share that post. We're accelerating, and it's difficult to imagine what this decade (or even 2024) has in place. Claude 3 is Anthropic's first multimodal model, capable of analyzing both text and images, including processing up to 20 images in a single request. However, it has limitations in image processing, like not identifying people, and struggles with low-quality images and spatial reasoning tasks. Claude 3 aims for better engagement and understanding in conversations, with a significant increase in context window to support comprehensive inputs and outputs. It also promises improvements in handling multi-step instructions and conversing in multiple languages, with plans for frequent updates. Despite these advancements, it lacks the ability to search the web for real-time information. Anthropic's strategy with Claude 3 involves frequent updates and ambitious goals for AI self-teaching algorithms, aiming for enhanced capabilities in interactive systems and advanced tasks. Pricing varies across the different models, with Opus being the most expensive. Anthropic's broader vision includes creating AI aligned with human intentions through "constitutional AI," focusing on simplicity, predictability, and alignment with human values, including accessibility for people with disabilities.
