How can cities utilize their waste centers as collection hubs to promote circularity? ⏳By 2050, global waste generation is projected to reach 3.4 billion tonnes annually. This translates to a 70% increase from 2016. Cities hold an important role in addressing this challenge. A promising solution lies in the creative reuse of construction materials from demolition and renovation, turning waste into new opportunities. We partnered with the Provincie Utrecht to turn municipal waste into valuable resources and advance the circular economy. We believe municipal waste centers (‘milieustraten’) are essential in this effort as they serve as central collection points for various types of household waste and offer the potential to become central hubs in circular material chains. 🔄 How did we do that? ➜ Conducted a comprehensive material flow analysis to map waste streams and their environmental impacts. ➜ Identified high-potential materials with opportunities for high-value reuse. ➜ Developed an actionable roadmap to guide stakeholders in scaling circular solutions. This approach revealed key opportunities to adapt municipal waste centers and underscored the importance of stakeholder collaboration. 🤝 Discover how cities can embrace circularity to reduce their environmental footprint: https://bit.ly/3YYLHz9 Jorrit Vervoordeldonk Gerard Roemers Jan van 't Hek Fenne Reinders Folmer Liesbeth Sträter #CircularEconomy #WasteManagement #Utrecht

🔔 a waste-to-energy plant in Copenhagen ▶ Copenhagen has ambitious sustainability goals, aiming to be carbon neutral by 2025. At the heart of their plan is this flagship waste plant. It can take in as much as 600,000 tonnes of municipal waste every year, burning it to deliver both electricity and heat. It supports the city's broader sustainability initiatives by promoting recycling, reducing waste, and providing clean energy. ✅ The biggest contribution is the heat, which is pumped into a district heating system that serves 150,000 households. That’s around a quarter of the city’s heating needs. 📍 Copenhill is designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), Copenhill features a striking design with a ski slope on its roof, promoting recreational use and community engagement. This multifunctional approach integrates industrial facilities into urban life. ✅ The plant utilizes advanced filtration technologies that minimize emissions, ensuring that the air quality around the facility remains high. It aims to be one of the cleanest waste-to-energy plants in the world. #sigmas #linkedin #renewableenergy #greensteel #copenhill #netzerocarbon #solarpanel #windpower 📌 www.sigmas.ir 📌https://t.me/sigmas_news

Arden Precinct, in Melbourne’s north, is set to accommodate 34,000 jobs and 15,000 residents. Through the adoption of circular economy principles, the 44.6 hectare development aspires to set the standard for best practice in sustainable urban renewal. WSP’s Waste & Circular Economy team is providing strategic waste engineering and circular economy advice, and has developed the Arden Circular Economy Strategy. A practical guide on embedding circular economy principles throughout the lifecycle of the project, the strategy exceeds current Australian standards in sustainable waste management and sets Arden Precinct on the path to becoming Melbourne’s first circular and toward zero waste precinct, in line with net zero carbon emissions targets by 2040. In 2005, UNESCO established May 17th, as International Recycling Day, to promote responsible waste management. From everyday items like water bottles, to large-scale industrial or construction waste, at ProximityParks we believe recycling is paramount. Today, we'd like to highlight the importance of existing property refurbishment to foster sustainability in our cities and in the real estate industry. We've reimagined and transformed old and underutilized buildings into modern, productive and sustainable spaces, recycling up to 70% of construction materials in some cases. Each of our projects is a testament to our commitment to the environment and urban revitalization. Want to see more? Swipe through some of our projects and be inspired by the possibilities of property recycling. 🔗 Visit our website to learn more about our properties and how we’re making a difference: https://lnkd.in/ex6gtthN #GetCloser #Sustainability #ESG #Reclying #WeAreGoodNeighbors

It's time to shift the mindset.... "We will go nowhere if we try to protect the environment by threatening human comfort, mobility and economic development." - Bertrand Piccard To effectively transition to a #circulareconomy, a #mindsetshift is required, from viewing ‘waste’ as a problem that needs to be disposed of, to ‘materials’ with value for reuse, repair, repurposing and recycling. The benefits of this include: - Significant contribution to net-zero carbon emissions targets - Extensive financial savings - Enhanced social capital This article by Valentina Petrone sets out WSP in Australia approach to sustainable urban renewal of the Arden Precinct in Melbourne. An impressive renewal project focused on embedding circular principles for the benefit of the local community. #wearewsp #withWSPyoucan #urbanrenewal #netzero

Let's Bring Cutting-Edge Waste Management to Australia 🌏 Did you know that #Finland's air stays remarkably fresh thanks to their innovative waste management system? Residents use a card to dispose of waste into underground pipes. When these pipes reach 80% capacity, a high-speed vacuum system transports the waste at 80 kph to a recycling station, keeping the air clean and odor-free. Who’s ready to bring this level of innovation to Australia? Let’s challenge ourselves to become the leaders in sustainable urban living! #Innovation #Sustainability #CleanAir #SmartCities #Australia #tech4humanity Feel free to reach out to discuss past, present, or future activities. What are our clients saying about us? At ICEX, we pride ourselves on our ease of use, communication and customer service. We carried out work for Westpoint Construction and we want to thank them for their feedback! We always check if we covered the basics e.g. our driver was on time, polite and helpful, and, of course, that the client is fully satisfied with the job. When we asked Westpoint, they said we were in fact early - but that it was fine - and better than late! And everything else was good - with them being left satisfied with the work. Good job to our drivers! We also asked if they were likely to use our service again - to which they said, “Yes, definitely”. This is always great to hear - as it affirms that we have done a good job for our client - as well as the obvious future good for our business! We also asked what it was that the team at Westpoint most appreciated about our service across the board to which they said, “Quick and very easy to deal with”. This is great to hear - we want to make being sustainable as easy as possible in the areas we work in - reducing technological waste. The easier it is to use an ITAD (STARR) service, the better it will be for the planet. We don’t let difficult systems or awkwardness stop us from properly handling technology in a responsible, sustainable manner. We endeavour to be easy to do business with because we know that helps to reduce waste. E-waste is the fastest-growing waste stream in the world and the UK is the number two E-waste contributor per capita and is even set to overtake Norway, the current number one! There will always be a cost to a service but making the service as accessible as possible, by being very easy to work with, is one of the ICEX GROUP goals! For a free consultation about any of our services, or to have a chat about how we can help your organisation promote the circular economy, contact the ICEX team today: 📧 [email protected] 📞 01376 503900 ICEX GROUP’s mission is to securely revive or relocate, and if necessary, recycle all our clients’ technology assets, to help achieve digital equality, and reduce E-waste to landfill. #CircularEconomy #GreenEconomy #ICEX #ITAD #STARR #StopTheWaste
