Is there a connection between July 4th and the Supreme Court’s ruling on Trump's immunity? Yes, and it’s a big one. The Declaration of Independence was an indictment against King George III for his tyrannical - and unchallengeable - actions against the American colonists. The Founders set up our government with strict limits on presidential power to prevent a president from acting like a king. Now with the Court inventing sweeping presidential immunity, there are no longer any limits on presidential power. #ushistory #AmericanHistory #history #APUSH #historian #SCOTUS #SupremeCout #immunity #TrumpImmunity #Founders #July4 #July4th #IndependenceDay #DeclarationOfIndependence

I would argue that the Supreme Court has set themselves up as Kings. By not clearly outlining what falls under personal vs official duties they’ve created a system whereby THEY have the sole power to decide whether something falls under the umbrella of “immunity”.
