From lacking an equal seat at the executive table to harboring the brunt of an organization's security failures, chief information security officers #CISOs face a number of hurdles. As #cybersecurity and #data #security concerns proliferate along with laws hoping to curb these threats, chief information security officers (CISO) are becoming increasingly #crucial for businesses across the economy. But CISOs don’t always feel they have enough support to #safeguard their #organizations. At the Shift Up Summit hosted by Microsoft, ISS Corporate and Kovrr at Microsoft’s offices in New York, CISOs from various companies spoke about the hurdles they face as cyberthreats and data security concerns grow, at a session titled “The Role of the CISO: Today & Tomorrow.” Below, we highlight three main challenges CISOs face today: Risk-Based #Budgets #Lacking an Equal Seat in the #CSuite #Regulators’ Growing Interest In 2023, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission released its own rules on cybersecurity #incident #disclosure, setting what some believe is a high bar for public companies. The rules require organizations to disclose cybersecurity incidents they experience along with an annual report regarding their cybersecurity risks and governance strategy.
