When I was starting with front-end development 7 years ago... Everything was messy. Literally, I didn't know where to start. And meanwhile, thousands of developers were growing excellent careers. - High salaries - Massive careers - Important networks But everything I tried didn't work. I was lost. Then, I started to reverse-engineer some of the best front-end devs I knew. What did they do differently to learn front-end development? After going deep into their past, it started to click. So armed with a strong roadmap, I recreated my learning journey. In the next 6 months, I was hired as a front-end developer. It's completely changed my career. So, recently, I shared the front-end developer roadmap that I used in a newsletter issue. You can read it for free here: https://lnkd.in/dvEAsPpS
A goal without a plan, is a goal missed often. I can relate to it very well, Edi. We need a plan every now and then. I am sure, your content will help a lot of folks out here. Thanks for sharing and helping! Cheers 😊
A solid roadmap is very important to succeed as a developer. Without one you are wondering aimlessly. Good compilation Edi Rodriguez
📌 I had to go read the newsletter so I can steal your thought. I'm taking those baby steps daily to grow in my frontend journey the same way you did. My big advice: Find a successful mentor who you admire, get his roadmap & take the steps he took. Best way to win. Edi Rodriguez
Thank you for sharing your experience and the front-end developer roadmap. It's inspiring to hear how you overcame the challenges and found success in your career. I appreciate the generosity in sharing your knowledge and resources with others.
Thanks for sharing valuable content
Programming with Mosh, A YouTube channel, in one of his videos, advised that one should first learn back-end development so that he would know what is going on behind the scenes. After that, one may go after front-end development. What do you think about it?
I like that you mentioned Lighthouse as a yardstick of where your app is and where it could be. There is so much tooling available to developers now that wasn't widely accessible before say 2020. Developers career trajectory was often closely tied to who was in their close network, such as access to mentorship, or peers that pushed them and/or brought them along. One of the great things about tools such as Lighthouse is it doesn't just tell developers where their app stands, but the steps to take to improve. Integrating feedback tools that tell you what you need to do to implement, combined with AI which can fill in the mentorship gaps, provide a path to accelerated learning. You're ceiling no longer capped by where you are, or your own discovery.
Your story is a testament to the power of perseverance and a well-defined plan. It’s inspiring to see how you turned things around and achieved success. Thanks for sharing your roadmap
Thanks for your article and roadmap! How would you determine who the best front-end devs are? Just the ones in the companies you work at? Or people that you follow?
Your journey from a lost novice to a successful front-end developer is incredibly inspiring. It’s a testament to the power of perseverance and strategic learning. Reverse-engineering the paths of successful peers is a brilliant approach that many can benefit from. Your willingness to share your roadmap is invaluable to the community. I'm eager to delve deeper into the insights you've shared. How did you specifically identify the key elements that differentiated the successful developers from the rest?
