The time for Try and Error of New Business Idea is soon fading out. Naturally, many ideas cross our minds and appeal to us as great business ideas. However, this is not the case; not all ideas result in business ventures at all times. It's important to test your ideas before investing your limited resources that could be used for other endeavours. The ILO Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) program provides the opportunity for potential business owners to bullet proof their ideas through a business idea generation process to validate the possibility of profitability and sustainability before investing lifetime resources. I am sure some of us have ventured into some businesses in the past without passing the ideas through any organized procedures and have burnt our fingers. Sometimes the business may not fail but would have swallowed more than needed limited resources before producing results. AWEP Ghana as part of its objectives to develop entrepreneurial skills of young ladies is organizing a subsidized training program to help give our future lady entrepreneurs a solid foundation in business establishment in order to prevent some mistakes of old or otherwise add to the record of failed attempts either in the early or later stages of their new businesses. Starting well might also prevent loss of capital and other resources. l support this move by AWEP Ghana.

Thank you to The FATE Institute for shedding light on the critical state of entrepreneurship in Nigeria. The 2023 Entrepreneurial Index Score of 0.52 is a call to action for all stakeholders. It's encouraging to see the resilience of our entrepreneurs despite the challenges, but the decline in key areas like business performance, skills acquisition, and the enabling business environment is concerning. Download the full report here >> https://lnkd.in/dxp8yFiR Key Pillars of the Entrepreneurial Index Score: *Business Performance (25%): Measures business growth, job creation, and business survival rates. The score reflects the tough conditions for businesses, influenced by factors like fuel scarcity and poor #power supply. *Skills Acquisition (23%): Assesses the level of education and training among entrepreneurs. There was a slight decline in this area, indicating the need for more investment in #capacity building. *Innovation & Digital Technology Adoption (21%): Evaluates the extent to which businesses adopt new technologies and #innovate. Despite challenges, there was a positive shift as businesses adopted digital solutions, driven by economic pressures such as the Naira scarcity. *Perception of Opportunities (21%): Gauges entrepreneurs' optimism about future #opportunities and their expansion plans. While optimism remains, it has declined due to an increasingly harsh business environment. *Enabling Business Environment (10%): Looks at the ease of doing business, #access to finance, and government support. This pillar scored the lowest, underscoring the need for improved regulatory and financial support for businesses. Policy Recommendations: *Enhance Access to Finance: Simplify processes for SMEs to #access loans and grants. The government should collaborate with financial institutions to lower interest rates and provide more targeted support. *Strengthen Digital Infrastructure: Encourage and support the adoption of digital technologies across all sectors by reducing the cost of tech tools and improving #internet accessibility. *Focus on Capacity Building: Invest in skill acquisition programs tailored to the needs of entrepreneurs, especially in the areas of #digital skills, business management, and #innovation. *Improve the Regulatory Environment: Streamline the business registration process and reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks that hinder business growth. By addressing these areas, we can unlock the full potential of Nigeria's entrepreneurial ecosystem. #Entrepreneurship #MSMEs #Innovation #PolicyRecommendations #BusinessGrowth #DigitalTransformation #Nigeria FATE Foundation The FATE Institute
