Seattle AI Week Day 2. What’s the state of VC investment in AI in Seattle? 👇 - Unsurprisingly, a major focus of Seattle investors is on A.I. technologies - Technical AI talent in Seattle is almost unsurpassed nationwide - But 90% of Seattle startups end up finding investment out of the area; the VC ecosystem is smaller than the pent up demand - Need a more mature angel ecosystem; strategic and business advice beyond the dollars - VCs from around the country are increasingly recognising Seattle as a major startup hub It’s a small ecosystem but with abundant technical talent and a leading university, the outlook is positive. #SeattleAIWeek
Seattle's VC investment in AI is evolving; local talent shines, but securing funds remains a challenge. Angel investors and strategic guidance are sought after for growth. VCs nationwide are eyeing Seattle as a burgeoning startup hub! 🚀 #SeattleAIWeek Ed Barker
That is fascinating! Is the recognition that Seattle is becoming a major startup hub, in particular for AI? And 90% finding investments elsewhere!?! That's crazy!

6moGreat week so far. It seems to be a common thread that a lot of the old guard entrepreneurs (now investors) are pushing deal flow out of the area as the coordination of funds and mission focus are out of alignment. We have thousands of AI companies being incubated in Washington state (more if you consider the northwest region) with about 2,000+ attendees across the events this week. Hopefully the investor layer will do the work needed to realign with the demand and opportunity.
