𝗪𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 The Giki Employee Race to Zero Challenge officially ended on Sunday 27th, and what an incredible two weeks it’s been! The first week’s theme was Going Green at Work where we completed steps relating to sustainable work habits and green office initiatives. In week 2, we moved to The Big Switch which was all about all the things we can switch in our daily lives to help the environment. Some of the steps our team tried out this week were: trying to buy local fruit, vegetables or meat on our next shop, taking shorter showers and repairing clothes. Across the two weeks we’ve committed to 109 steps to reduce our environmental impact, both in the workplace and at home. You can see the overall 861kg carbon emission reduction and water avoided alongside other categories in the attached image. It’s been inspiring to see everyone take simple yet impactful steps towards a more sustainable future. 🚀 Leaderboard Wrap-Up: A massive congratulations to Chris Smith, who finished at the top of our leaderboard with 25 steps completed. Right behind them in second place is George Lopez PCQI with 24 steps. Overall, we had an amazing 17 people join the challenge, including Peter Bennett OBE and Steve Booker making it a huge success! 🎉 Reflecting on the Journey: Although the challenge has ended, the lessons we’ve learned are here to stay. Together, we’ve proven that small actions can lead to significant change. By cutting waste, improving energy efficiency, and adopting sustainable habits, we’ve taken a big step toward a greener future. Hello folks, Many have heard the saying 'mindset is everything', and I'm not saying anything new but here I am talking about our #mindset . we Indians are least bother about #sustainability, #decarbonisation. We dnt care weather our planet get to #60degree , we would still be enjoying the AC at lowest temperature carefree with a bucket of kFC chicken .. That’s our Indian breed !! unfortunately, just because we dnt have any mandate for decarbonisation from our Government so we are not bound to think or act but atleast we all need to have that sense of #responsibility post facing this hopeless increase in temperature ? However, I want to reach out to allorganisations involved in #event management, organizing conferences, #marathons, and #seminars. Just Forget about netzero organisation. Can we start from baby steps by considering making these big /small events carbon-neutral or in simple words mitigating emissions? I seriously urge them not to wait for others to act. Can we openly discuss this and aim to make all events environmentally friendly? ???? Some might worry about the extra cost, but it doesn't have to be expensive.
