EcoBlue Ltd.’s Post

𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 Understanding the nuances of recycled content claims is essential for ensuring transparency in sustainability efforts. While mass balance methods offer flexibility in production, they can result in misleading claims about the actual recycled content. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞, in a production run of 100 tons with 10% recycled content, it could be inaccurately stated that 10 tons are fully recycled. Chemical recycling presents challenges in maintaining physical traceability. However, brands must disclose when recycled content claims are based on mass balance. Such transparency helps prevent consumer confusion and ensures they understand the true recycled content of the products they purchase. 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐆𝐑𝐒 prioritize batch-level physical traceability, avoiding the pitfalls of the mass balance approach over extended periods. Transparency and accurate disclosures are fundamental to building consumer trust and advancing genuine sustainability.
