World Mental Health Day is a great day to remind us how important it is to recharge — and that it’s not a one-person job. We sat down with Viki Lin, CSM, Senior Executive Assistant at EarnIn, to discuss Mindful Mates, EarnIn’s Employee Resource Group focused on mental health, and how important mental wellbeing is to her. How do you prioritize your mental health, both in and outside work? I consciously make an effort to set aside time every day to do something that helps me unwind and recharge, whether that’s reading, working out, or crafting. How has Mindful Mates impacted you, and what do you hope it achieves moving forward? As a lead of Mindful Mates, it has profoundly impacted my experience at EarnIn by allowing me to help create a supportive environment prioritizing mental and physical well-being. Looking ahead, we hope to scale the impact of Mindful Mates by fostering an environment where mental health is prioritized, openly discussed, and understood. By further normalizing conversations around mental health, we aim to reduce stigma and help cultivate a culture where everyone feels empowered to seek support, share their experiences, and celebrate their wellness journeys. Our goal is to ensure that mental health becomes an integral part of our overall culture, where every employee feels seen, supported, and valued as they prioritize their well-being at EarnIn. What advice would you give to someone struggling to maintain a healthy balance between their work and personal life? “You can’t pour from an empty cup” and “slow down to speed up.” These are easier said than done. Even though self-care has become such a mainstream term, it’s challenging to prioritize when we live in a culture that values hard work and productivity. You wouldn’t expect your car to run without gas, so you shouldn’t expect the same for yourself. We’re so glad we have colleagues like Viki to help keep our tanks full. If you’re looking for a career that allows you to prioritize your mental well-being, EarnIn is hiring. 💚💙🫂🌿 Today is World Mental Health Day. This year’s theme from The World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) is “it is time to prioritize mental health in the workplace.” As many of us spend more time working than any other activity during the day, it’s crucial that our places of work provide us options for support and time off. At Power To Be, employees are provided with 12 paid care leave days, access to LifeWorks (an EAP program), $1000 to be used towards counselling as part of our benefits plan, and up to $200 to use towards a wellness activity. Care days are in addition to vacation days, for staff to use for their mental or physical wellbeing, no questions asked. We take pride in being able to provide a robust support to staff and their wellbeing. Addressing mental health needs in the workforce is beneficial for both our individual team members, as well as for our entire organization. As written by WFMH, prioritizing workplace mental health is good for people, companies, and communities. In order to provide the level of care we are known for in our programs, we encourage staff to make space for stress management, self-refection, and building healthy connections, so we can all have the potential to contribute sustainably, and thrive for our participants. Many of our programs at Power To Be exist to assist with mental health issues. Being outside in nature has been shown to improve attention, lower stress, and encourage moods like calmness, joy, and creativity. According to the Mental Health Foundation, our relationship with nature is critical in supporting good mental health and preventing distress, to keep us emotionally, psychologically, and physically healthy. To find out more about how Power To Be can help your mental health and wellness, visit our website powertobe.ca to learn more about our outdoor programs such as kayaking, canoeing, camping, rock climbing, and nature walks. During the work-from-home days of the pandemic, my colleagues and I would take a short break toward the end of the day. I find that taking proper breaks at work is crucial for my mental health. Through Stylist’s Work It Out campaign and Mind, people are encouraged to take "Work 5 A Day" breaks. These breaks are designed to improve mental health and include walking away from your desk, organizing your time, reaching out to others, keeping your body moving, and doing 5 minutes of controlled breathing. Lauren Geall highlights that taking care of our mental health at work should be a priority. The "Work 5 A Day" breaks are easy to do and scientifically proven to help with mental health, creativity, and concentration. It's important to integrate these breaks into our daily routines to manage stress and improve our work-life balance.

🌍💚 World Mental Health Day: Prioritizing Well-Being in the Workplace 💚🌍 Today, on World Mental Health Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of mental health in our lives and workplaces. In a fast-paced world, it's easy to overlook our mental well-being. However, fostering a culture that prioritizes mental health is essential for both personal and professional growth. Sharing a few thoughts to consider: 1. Break the Stigma: Let’s create an environment where discussing mental health is normalized. Sharing our experiences can help others feel less alone. 2. Promote Work-Life Balance: Encourage practices that allow employees to recharge and maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life. 3. Support Systems: Ensure that resources are available for those who need them, whether it’s counseling, workshops, or simply a listening ear. 4. Mindfulness Matters: Incorporate mindfulness practices into your daily routine. Small moments of reflection can lead to significant improvements in our overall well-being. 5. Lead by Example: As leaders and colleagues, let’s model healthy behaviors and prioritize our mental wellness. Remember, taking care of our mental health is not just an individual responsibility; it’s a collective effort that benefits everyone in the workplace. Let’s commit to making mental health a priority today and every day! 💪💚 #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #WorkplaceWellness #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealthAwareness

What does Mental Health Awareness Month mean in the workplace? Mental Health is the groundworks for all health which means we need to feel comfortable discussing and recognizing mental health in the workplace. It is important to find ways to manage stress, which can impact our mental health. Examples include: exercising, journaling, reducing screen time, balancing your diet, quality sleep, and connecting with supportive relationships. At Mainstay Engineering Group our viewpoint is that we don't have a work-life balance. It’s LIFE balance and setting priorities - with so many of us working remotely, our work has has become part of our home life. So balancing our life and setting priorities is key to a happy and healthy life. What steps are you taking to encourage discussions about Mental Health in the workplace? #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #LifeBalance #MainstayEngineeringGroup #MentalHealth #WorkplaceHealth

May is Mental Health Awareness month, as many probably know from scrolling LinkedIn and seeing companies’ posts, preaching their values and how they align with this month’s awareness focus. While the posts do help to raise awareness, what is needed from companies in today’s capitalistic society is not simply awareness but action. Words give a lovely facade of morales but are cheap. They cost nothing and, without any true thought and action behind them, mean nothing. They simply give lip service in order to stay in tune with modern society’s openness and acceptance of mental health issues. Companies that truly aim to raise awareness for mental health do so through their actions. They support their employees’ work life balance by enabling, empowering and encouraging them to enjoy both work and life; when faced with challenging work situations, they support their employees - in both words and actions - to find a solution that reasonates with the employee and provides a true and fair solution, rather than a bandaid fix. And, perhaps most importantly, they act with empathy. Empathy heals and is a very powerful tool to support the wellbeing, both mental and physical, of employees. Happy Mental Health Awareness Month and may we see more action than words as a result from this month’s awareness.

Taking Care of Our Minds at Work: A Path to Happiness and Support In today's busy and sometimes stressful work life, it's important that we take care of our mental well-being. Just like we put effort into getting better at our jobs, we must also work on building our emotional strength and inner peace. By taking steps to care for our mental health, we can improve our overall happiness, do better at work, and create a more caring and understanding workplace for everyone. One important part of boosting mental well-being is practicing self-care regularly. This can mean different things for different people, like setting clear boundaries between work and personal life, doing hobbies and activities that make us happy, and making sure we get enough rest and relaxation. By making time for ourselves and finding the self-care activities that work best for us, we can recharge our batteries, feel less stressed, and approach our work with fresh energy and focus. Another key aspect is creating a supportive workplace where everyone feels valued and cared for. This means building a culture where co-workers feel comfortable sharing their struggles and asking for help when they need it. By making it normal to talk about mental health, providing resources and support, and encouraging a healthy work-life balance, companies can create a emotionally safe space where employees can thrive both at work and in their personal lives. Remember, taking care of our mental well-being is a continuous journey that takes dedication, kindness, and a willingness to put our own well-being first. By taking small steps each day to care for ourselves and support one another, we can build a stronger and mentally healthier workforce. I encourage you to share your own experiences and thoughts on nurturing mental well-being at work. What self-care activities have worked well for you? How can we create a more supportive and caring work environment? Let's keep this important conversation going and work together to promote mental well-being for ourselves and our co-workers. #MentalWellbeing #WorkplaceHappiness #SelfCare #SupportiveWorkplace

Today is World Mental Health Day, a day that represents a global initiative to raise awareness and understanding about mental health issues. Mental health in the workplace isn’t just about what resources a company does or doesn’t have; it is about creating a culture where employees feel safe to discuss their mental well-being. A culture that doesn’t prejudice against people with different capabilities than our own, a culture that is honest and open and is constantly seeking to improve itself, no different than what it is asking of the individuals who comprise it. Here at Shane Co., we are fully committed to doing our best to support the mental health of our team members. We have a dedicated Manager of Wellbeing & Work Life. We offer various trainings on different mental-health and wellness related topics, a variety of resources, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Affinity Groups focused on wellness, and more—all with the sole purpose of providing support to #TeamShaneCo. Why do we do this? Because we know how important mental health is to one’s overall well-being. We believe that healthy people make happy people, and happy people make better workplaces overall (and happier customers!). And we want to make sure that each of our employees feels valued and seen as a whole person. Happy World Mental Health Day! Get out there and take care of yourselves and each other.

Navigating Mental Health as an Adult Strategies for Well-being In today's fast-paced world, prioritizing mental health is paramount for individuals to thrive both personally and professionally. As adults, we face a myriad of challenges that can impact our mental well-being, from work-related stress to personal responsibilities and societal pressures. However, there are various strategies and resources available to help us navigate these challenges and prioritize our mental health. Firstly, it's essential to recognize the importance of self-care. Just as we prioritize physical health through exercise and proper nutrition, carving out time for self-care activities can significantly impact our mental well-being. This can include activities such as mindfulness meditation, journaling, or engaging in hobbies that bring joy and relaxation. Furthermore, seeking support is crucial in managing mental health as an adult. This may involve reaching out to trusted friends or family members for emotional support or seeking professional help from a therapist or counsellor. Therapy can provide a safe space to explore and address underlying issues, develop coping mechanisms, and learn valuable skills to manage stress and anxiety effectively. Additionally, creating a healthy work-life balance is essential for maintaining mental well-being. Setting boundaries around work hours, prioritizing time for rest 🤔 , and taking regular breaks throughout the day can help prevent burnout and improve overall mental health. Lastly, fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture can contribute to positive mental health outcomes for employees. Employers can implement initiatives such as employee assistance programs, mental health resources and training, and flexible work arrangements to support employees' mental well-being. By prioritizing self-care, seeking support when needed, maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and fostering a supportive workplace culture, adults can effectively navigate the challenges of mental health and cultivate resilience, well-being, and success in all aspects of life. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mhfa
