The people that our local community kitchens support are not just "homeless people". Community kitchens and food banks are the back bones of our community that support all those in need of support. Many of our nations veterans and elders, children and hardworking single parents use the kitchen to fill the gaps. Not only fill the gaps, but for some the weekly food boxes and nightly meals are all they have to survive. With rising costs of living with everything from the gas we use to go to work, to the boots we pull ourselves up with food kitchens are in demand. The demand is something that is hard to keep up with on fixed budgets and limited donations. In the coming weeks that demand will increase as youth will be home more as school lets out. The meals once provided in the school system now fall on the already stretched budgets of the average American household. Lets do what we can to empower and have compassion to gain awareness about who uses the food kitchens and what we can do to help. Even if it's just slinging a few boxes of tomatoes to help out during a deliver. It is a step. #giveback #volunteer #communitywork #foodpantry #careergrowth #personalgrowth #investment #leadership #communityleadership #leadershipdevelopment

In our last post, we highlighted Thrive SC, but we realize there are many people just trying to survive, let alone thrive. According to Feeding America, more than 44 million people in the US face hunger today. Fortunately, there is something we can do to help! One of the ways we can support, is by supporting a local nonprofit that feeds those in need. Meals on Wheels prepares over 1,200 meals and hand delivers them daily to local residents. Wow, what a mission! How can we help? Meals on Wheels can always use volunteers! There is always a need for kitchen prep and delivery of the meals. If those aren't an option for you, donations- no matter the amount, will directly impact another human being in the form of nourishment. We love seeing people and businesses thrive, but let's jump in and help others survive! #volunteer #greenvillevolunteer #mealsonwheels

A group of kids were faced with a tough decision: spend their afternoon helping the homeless or enjoying a sweet treat at the ice cream parlor 🍦🤔. But as they thought about it, they realized that they could make a difference in their community by choosing to help those in need 🌎. They decided to spend their time serving meals and collecting donations for the local homeless shelter 🍴. As they worked together to make a positive impact, the kids learned valuable lessons about empathy, kindness, and the importance of giving back 🤝. They saw firsthand the struggles that many people face and understood that even small actions can make a big difference 🌟. And as they left the shelter, they felt a sense of pride and fulfillment that no ice cream cone could match 🎉. The kids' selfless decision inspired others to follow in their footsteps, creating a ripple effect of kindness in the community 🌊. They proved that even the youngest among us can make a big impact when we choose to put others before ourselves 👧🏼. And who knows, maybe next time they'll enjoy their ice cream cones even more, knowing that they've made a difference in the lives of others 🍦😊. #followme #KidsMakingADifference #HelpingTheHomeless #SelflessActs #EmpathyInAction #KindnessMatters #GivingBack #CommunityFirst #InspiringYouth #RippleEffectOfKindness #MakeADifference #YouthEmpowerment #SocialImpact #HeartwarmingMoments

Today you will see and hear a lot about #GivingTuesday. It's a beautiful outpouring of generosity, but it's also like the Olympics for non-profits to share their cause, working to get enough publicity to be seen and heard in all the commotion. What if we challenged how we thought about generosity? What if generosity expanded beyond year-end? What if every Tuesday was a Giving Tuesday as we give of our time, encouragement, and finances? The need for a focused day to remind people to be generous could be eliminated. Families facing hardships often most need help when winter utilities are highest and before tax refunds are available, or during the summer when school based food programs are not available and childcare costs are higher. And there are thousands of neighbors searching for housing they can afford in our community. One day of giving in November or December doesn't begin to meet those needs. Please consider what you can do today on #GivingTuesday, but please consider what you can do on a random Tuesday in February, July, or September as well. Giving of who you are, what you have, and your words of advocacy throughout the year can literally help change our community. #allyearlong #givingtuesday

✨ At Serving the Community, we’re on a mission to ensure that no family goes hungry. Though we are a new nonprofit, we’re making strides in Harris and Montgomery counties, currently serving 10 families each week with nutritious meals and essential resources. We may be small, but our impact is growing – and here’s why your support matters. 10 families served weekly, providing critical meals to children and single mothers facing food insecurity. 100% of families report an immediate sense of relief after receiving our meal packages. 20% increase in engagement with underprivileged youth, providing them with the stability needed to focus on their education and well-being. 25 volunteers and counting, working together to serve our local community. 📊 The need is clear: Over 90% of students are on the free meal plan in the Aldine School District alone. For many children, the meals we provide are the first nutritious meal they’ve had since the weekend. We’re not just filling stomachs; we’re empowering students and families with hope and stability. 📈 Early studies show that even small contributions can make a significant difference. With your help, our goal is to increase our weekly impact to 20 families by the end of this year. 💡 We believe that with the support of our community, we can double our reach in the coming months. If you’re a local business, foundation, or individual looking to make a direct impact, we'd love to partner with you. 🤝 Let’s connect and explore how we can continue to serve those in need. Serving the Community may be new (2021), but we’re dedicated to growth and lasting impact. Every meal, every smile, every volunteer counts. Join us as we build a stronger, healthier community. #NonprofitImpact #EndHunger #CommunitySupport #ServingTheCommunity #LinkedInForGood #GrowingTogether

Join Building Impact in fighting against summer hunger for families in need by contributing to their Summer Food Drive. In Massachusetts, 36% of surveyed households with children reported that their child is food insecure. With summer break coming up for kids, many families who rely on school-provided breakfasts and lunches may be struggling to purchase food. 100% of all donations will go to their three partners: Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD), Boston Medical Center (BMC)'s Preventative Food Pantry, and People Helping People, Inc. - Burlington MA to help deliver meals. Together, through Building Impact, our community can ensure that these partners distribute nutritious groceries by providing local families with essential sustenance throughout the summer: https://lnkd.in/eHi7tG5y #PhilanthropicFriday #BuildingImpact #SummerFoodDrive

Serving is what I do. I search for opportunities and organizations that allow me to be involved in every way possible. Since I have a tremendous passion for children and a heart to help, I didn’t blink an eye when I met John Widrick, Director of the Bridge House, and heard about their mission. Even the process of forms, background checks and meetings to be approved for the in-house care team didn’t scare me. My desire to help those in need supersedes any frustrations of red tape. This ministry is more than just checking an internal “volunteer” box or getting that tax write-off for a donation; this is about changing a life.” For Amber Graves, you’ll find her diving in wherever there’s a need: giving her time to volunteer at the house, provide a huge platter of enchiladas through the meal train, even being part of the event planning team and connecting others to The Bridge House, encouraging them to take up the giving baton. “I’m going to get my kids involved, so they can experience with me what a true servant’s heart is and the impact it makes on the world around. It’s easy to give money, but when you realize these kids don’t have a home and your humble home-cooked meal means the world to them, it empowers you to go the extra mile. Because these kids need YOU!” Ready to make a change?
