So yesterday, I saw one too many jokes on HR for Halloween. Jason masks, Michael Meyers masks, Freddie and Darth Vader. The comments that followed were horrifying. We really need to clear the air for our young employees stepping into the workforce. We don’t want them to fear HR but to use HR. More importantly, we want them to become HR. Let me say this: Most HR issues come from lack of candor and lack of clear agreements. We've become terrified to offend people so we walk around on eggshells; which creates the perfect environment for problems. Be direct, be fair, be consistent. Understand what our employees are in need of. Bridge the gap between leadership and staff. Please attend trainings and conferences to help your knowledge. It’s funny to share jokes but understand what message is being shared to our students and newcomers. Just my thoughts. Happy Friday.
