Understanding Flood Risks: How Businesses and Communities Can Prepare In the face of rising heavy rainfall and flash floods, understanding the types of floods that impact U.S. regions is more crucial than ever. According to NOAA, by 2050, damaging floods are expected to occur over ten times more frequently than they do today. This increased flood risk threatens not only coastal areas but communities and businesses nationwide. At Geodesign Barriers, we believe in empowering companies and communities to better prepare and protect themselves. From flash floods and river floods to urban and storm surge flooding, each type presents unique risks to infrastructure, safety, and the environment. Increased urbanization, changing climate patterns, and extreme weather events only underscore the need for effective flood prevention measures. From flood barriers to infrastructure improvements, investing in flood resilience isn’t just about protecting property—it’s about safeguarding people, livelihoods, and essential services. 🌍 Discover more about the various types of floods and the importance of flood resilience in our latest article. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dzKdSkiF #ClimateResilience #FloodPreparedness #GeodesignBarriers #Infrastructure #CommunitySafety

Alert! Flood water raising water levels is becoming a serious threat to homes, infrastructure, and lives. Traditional flood control measures often buckle under the pressure of these sudden increase, leaving communities vulnerable. In the face of such unpredictability, old methods simply can't keep up. They lack the flexibility to adapt swiftly to changing water levels, leading to potentially disastrous outcomes. But what if there's a solution that can quickly adapt to changing water levels. Rubber Dams – a cutting-edge flood management tool designed to inflate and deflate rapidly. This allows them to respond immediately to fluctuations in water levels, unlike conventional barriers. The flexibility needed to manage floodwaters efficiently, preventing overflow and protecting downstream areas, makes them a crucial part of proactive flood mitigation strategies. Take Action Now! MYTH: Only riverfront or coastal properties need flood protection. Unfortunately, we’ve seen an increase in inland flooding in the last 10 years alone, driven primarily by climate change. The picture below is part of Hamburg, Iowa covered in flood waters - an image that’s now becoming commonplace throughout the Midwest and areas far from traditional flood zones. Some of the factors that can lead to significant flood events include: - More intense and frequent rainfall - Rapid snowmelt - Inadequate drainage systems All of the above is due to rising global temperatures that contribute to higher water volumes in rivers and lakes. Additionally, as we continue to expand cities and build new roads, concrete and asphalt surfaces limit natural water absorption, which increases water runoff. As we adapt to rising flood risks around the world, the reality we're facing is that inland properties and communities now need more robust flood protection than ever before. #floodrisk #midwest #america #floodriskamerica #floodprotection #floodmanagement #floodpanels #floodinsurance #flooding #protectyourproperty #protectyourbusiness #protectourcommunities
