Tipping is common, especially in the food and hospitality industry. Here's what to know about tax rules in both countries: US Tip Rules: 💰 Employees must report cash tips over $20/month to their employer. 💰 Tips under $20/month aren’t reported to the employer but must be included on tax returns. 💰 Tips include cash, shared tips, and card payments. 💰 Service Charges (e.g., for large parties, bottle service) are not tips; they’re wages subject to all taxes. Germany Tip Rules: 💰 Tips are generally tax-free in Germany, regardless of the amount per month. 💰 High-earning waitstaff can boost their pay significantly tax-free. 💰 Large or unusual tips may lose tax-free status. A recent case ruled that €1.3 million was not a tax-exempt tip. ⚖️ Key Takeaway: Americans receiving tips in Germany should be aware of tax nuances, especially for large amounts. When in doubt, find detailed information in our latest blog 🔗 https://lnkd.in/erjvfTtc #Taxpatation #USTax #ExpatsInGermany #USExpats #GermanTaxes #Tipping #TaxRules # #TaxAdvice

Economists are generally not fond of subsidies, as they often lead to market distortions and poor allocation of incentives. This also applies to tax benefits, which are among the most problematic forms of subsidies. It is no coincidence that the legislature notes in article 7, letter g of the Subsidies Act (Subventionsgesetz) that financial aid […] https://lnkd.in/djGEzXg2 www.Cyprus-CEO.com #CEO #business #management #marketing #tech #AI #legal #money

In the Netherlands, you’ll hear Eet Smakelijk! everywhere—it’s the Dutch version of “Enjoy your meal!” 🍲 But it’s more than just a phrase; it’s a reminder to pause and savor the moment. 🌟 Although the Dutch do not really take their time for this... When it comes to your finances and taxes, taking that extra time to get everything in order can make for a much more satisfying outcome. 📊💼 Whether you’re an expat navigating Dutch tax rules 🇳🇱 or a business owner optimizing deductions 💸, a thoughtful approach to tax planning is like a well-prepared meal—something you can truly “enjoy.” 😋 So, Eet Smakelijk! to a well-planned financial future! 🍀📈 #DutchTaxAdvice #EetSmakelijk #FinancialPlanning #DutchCulture #EnjoyYourFinances

𝐅𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐀𝐓: 𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐤𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐯𝐨𝐝𝐤𝐚...📚💰 On a famous poster from the communist era, a young man refuses alcohol and says "No, I prefer a book" (see the photo). The message was clear: reading was preferable to drinking, and books were considered a virtuous alternative to alcohol. Ironically, it became a popular decoration in bars and pubs during the totalitarian regime. This poster immediately came to my mind when I saw the announcement of the Slovak Government of Robert Fico on Tuesday, that it was increasing VAT on books 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟏𝟎% 𝐭𝐨 𝟐𝟑% (Slovakia will have the highest level of VAT in the EU). In a stunning display of economic wisdom, the Slovak Minister of Finance, Ladislav Kamenický, declared this was perfectly fine because only rich people read books anyhow. I have always thought books were a source of joy, knowledge, and inspiration for everyone, rich or poor. How wrong I was! Clearly, diving into a gripping novel or exploring the depths of non-fiction is reserved for the upper echelons of society! Now, the Slovak Ministry of Finance (Ministerstvo financií Slovenskej republiky) has stumbled upon a brilliant strategy to combat the problem of an informed citizenry. After all, why bother with educated voters when you can have a populace blissfully unaware of literature, history, science, and critical thinking? Nothing says "thriving democracy" quite like making knowledge less accessible! It is particularly genius to implement this at a time when Slovakia's democracy is already showing serious signs of strain. Why stop at just eroding democratic institutions when you can also erode the public's ability to understand and engage with them? In this brave new world, ignorance isn't just bliss. It's government-mandated fiscal policy! Going back to the poster from the past, at least the communist propaganda recognised books as a positive force in society. The current Slovak Government sank even lower and has totally lost sight of the value of literature and learning. So all the Slovaks out there, put down those books and pick up... well, whatever the Government deems appropriate for the plebs. Here's to a future where the only reading material the Slovaks will need is the bank statements… Assuming they can still afford to read them, of course! 🎉📉 PS: It seems like I am obsessed with Slovakia these days. But I simply could not let the stupidity of the justification of the proposal pass unnoticed here. #Slovakia #RichVsPoor #books #literature #tax #VAT #DemocracyInDecline #democracy #EU
