The three-day New Space Summit https://lnkd.in/ebg2QDXv took place on October 23-25, 2024, organised by Munich Aerospace on the topic FROM LAB TO ORBIT TO EARTH: TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER WITHIN NEW SPACE, with a presentation of the state of the European space program, shortcomings and advantages. More about the Summit in the program on the Homepage - Munich New Space Summit. The exceptional honor went to A3, represented by President Slobodan Danko Bosanac, to participate in the opening panel, in a discussion on Europe's Space Ambitions: A Dialogue on Our Competitive Edge. The discussion covered the fundamental advantages and disadvantages of the EU space program, with a fairly objective analysis, which I will report on in detail soon. A3 defended the thesis that Europe lacks the vision of leadership as the world carrier of an important project in the space program, which requires vision and imagination. The bearer of the vision should be the European community, while the ESA should be the executor. In the final two words, which were asked by the panellists, A3 gave a guideline for where to start the program: Think big. A3 was presented in the discussion based on the contributions of several of our members, and we must be proud to present ourselves as a very competent interlocutor on the subject of the space program and the vision of where to go. From left to right: Jean-Marc Astorg (Strategy Director, CNES), Miriam Grigg (Deputy Director, International, Resilience and Regulation of the Space Directorate, DSIT UK), Moderator: Hermann Ludwig Moeller (Director, European Space Policy Institute, ESPI), René Puls (Board Member, ESA-ECSECO | Managing Director, PRORES Aerospace) i Slobodan Danko Bosanac (President Adriatic Aerospace Association).

After you get your Monday morning coffee (or tea), please take a look at our new Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) report, "Salmon Swimming Upstream: Charting a Course in Cislunar Space." There is a lot of promise—and hype—around the future of humankind in cislunar space, roughly the area between geosynchronous Earth orbit and the Moon. But there are also hard realities. Operating in cislunar space presents new technical and policy challenges that the United States and its allies will want to consider. This report takes a look at the state of cislunar space and offers ideas for space leaders and policymakers. Many thanks to contributing author Louis Gleason IV and to the following folks for support, assistance, expertise, and feedback. Artemis Accord 50th Signatory Milestone Launched in 2020, the Artemis Accords, a non-binding set of principles designed to guide civil space exploration and use in the 21st century, reached a milestone of 50 signatories on December 11! We expect this number to continue growing as more and more countries commit to making the space environment safer and more predictable and allowing all nations – even with emerging space programs – to benefit from the data obtained in space. The United States has undertaken many actions over the years to promote and support international collaboration in space exploration and research. In addition to the Artemis Accords, we’ve entered into partnerships with countries to collaborate on space missions, share scientific data, and develop space technologies; created a supportive regulatory framework that encourages private sector investment; and updated our National Space Policy to protect space assets and critical space infrastructure. The durable nature of our space diplomacy is exemplified I the International Space Station, which has been in operation for 25 years now, facilitated by the International Space Station Intergovernmental Agreement. Looking to the future, we are eager to harness the power of space diplomacy to ensure that humanity benefits from the research and economic growth that space exploration provides. The UK Space Agency and Canadian Space Agency have signed an enhanced MoU to further areas of cooperation and information sharing on space. The agreement, signed by UK Space Agency CEO Paul Bate and Canadian Space Agency President Lisa Campbell, builds on the initial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies signed in 2021: a framework for collaborative activities and the exchange of information, technology and personnel between both nations. The signing took place during the 39th Space Symposium, an annual event in Colorado Springs that brings together space leaders from around the globe to discuss, address and plan for the future. 📣 The Science & Exploration Bilateral Programme is supporting a potential UK-Canada partnership on CASTOR for which #Teledyne is developing their CIS300 platform technology. 📰 Full Press Release here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJeFkT-C https://loom.ly/Z6PQ-H8 #Space #UKspace #CanadianSpace #TeledyneSpace #SpaceImaging #SpaceSymposium #SpaceFoundation @UK Space Agency @Canadian Space Agency | Agence spatiale canadienne

Its time for Australia's space community to think about how we can play a role in supporting both space domain awareness, and space logistics and mobility in 'xGEO' - that vast region from geosyncrohonous orbit (at 36,500km) out to Cislunar Space. My thoughts in the Australian Strategic Policy Institute's Strategist blog on next steps for Australia in The Expanse beyond near-Earth space.
