Today is my 8 year work anniversary at Douglas Stuart Ltd. This got me thinking... What is the average tenure of employment? UK - 10.1 years France - 10.4 years Germany - 11.1 years USA - 4.1 years Australia - 3.3 years Denmark - 8 years The average tenure of employment in the #Recruitment industry ranges between 2 to 4 years and the most common reasons for leaving are; 1. Career Advancement (lack of opportunity) 2. Work-Life Balance 3. Feeling Undervalued Which for me speaks volumes for the way Douglas Stuart Ltd. have supported me, given me the opportunity to develop, and thus the reason I'm 8 years in and still enjoying the journey.

Beyond the years of Service We often pat ourselves on the back for sticking around a place for a long time. "Look at me, ten years here!" we boast. But let's be real: it's not just about the number of years you've clocked in. It's about what you've done with that time. Think of your career like a garden. Sure, you can brag about how long you've tended it, but the real beauty lies in the flowers you've grown, the challenges you've overcome, and the lessons you've learned along the way. Those are the things that truly matter. Every day at work is a chance to learn something new. You've probably faced some big challenges, celebrated some huge wins, and worked with all sorts of amazing people. That's the stuff that makes you who you are professionally. So, next time you're thinking about your work anniversary, don't just count the years. Take a moment to appreciate the incredible journey you've been on. Yesterday marked the official 5 year anniversary of Berry Consulting! Can’t quite believe where the time has gone but wouldn’t change it for the world. Key learnings: ✅ The power of your network - the majority of my clients have come from existing relationships or word of mouth, something that I truly value and will never take for granted. ✅ Despite the challenges of the past few years, the travel industry is still THE best industry to work in ✅ I’ve loved the process of transferring my skills into a new sector - sports organisations where I can combine my business expertise with another of my passions ✅ Believe in myself and trust my gut! It would have been easy to walk away from self employment when things got rocky during covid but, knowing that there was still demand for what I can offer, gave me the confidence to stick with it… and never look back! Lastly, thanks to all my clients (past and present) for your trust in me and for industry colleagues and friends that have supported me along the way - you know who you are. Today marks my 13th Anniversary as a member of The Brydens Group. I feel privileged to have had the chance to collaborate with influential individuals who have enabled me to forge a fulfilling path while contributing value to the organization. Reflecting on my journey, if you had asked me at the outset if I envisioned myself in my current role, I would likely have answered affirmatively. I have always been driven and recognized the unique skillset I possess and how it can effectively be utilized. My philosophy includes volunteering my talents where I believe they can make a difference, regardless of personal gain. This approach has not only opened doors to unforeseen opportunities but also allowed me to display abilities beyond my designated responsibilities. At Brydens, I have transitioned from Brand Manager to Business Development Manager and now Group Corporate Affairs Manager—a career trajectory that aligns perfectly with my aspirations. Each role has been a learning experience, allowing me to refine my skills and maintain a perpetual sense of excitement. Ultimately, it boils down to comprehending your value. In essence, if you view yourself as a brand, what principles do you stand for? My journey highlights the significance of hard work, belief, and being a bit of a dreamer. Defining your identity and ensuring that you consistently deliver on it is paramount. 🎊 One Year Anniversary at Morrison: Time flies when you’re scaling operations and slaying deadlines. Reflecting on my first year at MORRISON has been a wild ride of personal growth, teamwork, and just a little bit of imposter syndrome (let’s be honest—sometimes A LOT). From my first solo client call to submitting DOE proposals, I've learned what it means to grow, adapt, and excel under pressure. Taking on new challenges, learning from my incredible team, and asking, “How can this be better?” has defined my journey. (Cue the eye-rolls from the team 😅). Turns out, my Working Genius of Wonder and Discernment was spot-on: an innate drive to improve, streamline, and find the right solutions to move projects forward. 🚀 Highlights of My Year: 🎯 Secured $23MM in grants with an 81% success rate—what a journey! 🤝 Supported my teammates through tight deadlines, crazy schedules, and some intense team bonding experiences. 💡 Launched new processes and updated internal systems, all while navigating the steep learning curve of grant writing. 📝 Conquered major grants like ERME, DOE, and VAPG, sometimes even while balancing personal milestones (like getting married and buying a house!). 🤝 Embraced our culture of support, encouragement, and humility. I’m so grateful to my team for inspiring continuous improvement, creativity, and always bringing their A-game. Together, we've faced challenges, shared many laughs (and maybe a few tears), and transformed ideas into reality.
