What kind of world will today’s children inherit? During Reset Connect’s final roundtable of the year, our moderator Illana Adamson presented a really impactful slide that you might not have seen before, that really brings home the climate emergency. The IPCC infographic below highlights the alarming rise in global temperatures that future generations would face without immediate action. It’s a clear reminder of the challenges ahead but also of the opportunity we have to make a difference. By adopting sustainable solutions now, we can build a future where our children not only survive but thrive. #IPCCAR6 #sustainability #LondonClimateActionWeek #ResetConnect #futuregenerations #biodiversity #roundtable #workshop

With the return of President-elect Trump looming, the global climate agenda faces serious uncertainty. As the State of the Climate report highlights and COP29 is underway, the need for action is more urgent than ever: - Leadership gap: Local and regional actors must lead as global commitments waver. - Real impacts: Rising heat, floods, and biodiversity loss aren’t abstract—they’re here now, affecting lives and livelihoods. - Solutions exist: Nature-based solutions like urban greening and climate resilience projects can drive tangible, immediate progress. We can’t afford to wait for global consensus. The time for bold, local action is now. Let’s work together to secure a sustainable, resilient future. 🌲💧🌎 WEO🌍#COP29 #ClimateAction #UrbanResilience #Leadership

It's #EarthDay! 🌍 At Climate X, we celebrate the awe-inspiring beauty of our planet and our role in protecting its future. 🌱 ✍️ As the world faces unprecedented impacts driven by climate change, today marks the 8th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement — a commitment to limit global warming to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, aiming even further for a 1.5°C cap. As specialists in climate risk, we work to understand how changes in the climate affect us today and will affect us in the future. We bridge the gap between scientific accuracy and actionable climate risk data, aiming to mitigate and adapt to climate change for a more sustainable, resilient society. #EarthDay #ClimateAction #Sustainability #innovation #tech #earthday2024

On track for 3°C warming, with 1.5°C dead & 2°C on life support. This isn't surprising, the evidence has been mounting for years that the climate hype is squarely, and deliberately, divorced from reality. It's a combination of virtue-signaling and a cover for the status quo to continue its thing. What's next? Two feedback loops will likely make this trend worse. 1. Ecological feedback loops lead to exponentially increasing risks & damage, beyond what can be accurately modelled. An example is warming oceans leading to more ice caps melting, leading to more heat being trapped, warming oceans further. (Have written about this in detail last year). 2. Socioeconomic x ecological loops where increased ecological damage, coupled with an era of increased geopolitical risks, tightened access to resources, etc. makes the powers that be more defensive and resistant to change. The popularity of FFs under the energy security label is an example of this. There's no innovating our way out of this. “Environmentalism without class struggle is just gardening” -- Chico Mendes https://lnkd.in/gfU_t3RW

How to help with climate change? Do you ever ask yourself this question? Finding answers is more important than ever as the science and climate news are becoming scarier. .The world remains on track of catastrophic warming three degrees above pre industrial levels. "UN". 1. Contact your local politicians Local MPs get little correspondence about environmental issues, and it really makes the difference. 2. Suggest and make changes at workplaces It is important that bring our whole selves to work not the working bit of ourselves. If there is something going on at work that is not respecting the environment, Speak about the issues Put it on the agenda 3. Discuss and influence your circles Challenge conversations, without losing friends, that are not respectful to the environment. Don’t let these things pass. 4. Consider supply chains you support when you shop Every time we shop or spend money, let’s ask ourselves what supply chains we are supporting and do we want to support them. The impact of climate change is a pressing issue that requires proactive measures rather than reactive responses. Factors such as psychological, social, economic, and political influences often lead to delayed actions, with future generations bearing the brunt of our inaction. It is essential to address this issue responsibly and selflessly to curb the effects of global warming. To combat these tendencies effectively, the focus should be on: - Making climate solutions practical, cost-effective, and easily accessible. - Highlighting additional benefits such as improved air quality, energy efficiency, and job opportunities. - Presenting climate change as a local and immediate concern to evoke emotional involvement. - Showcasing successful initiatives to demonstrate the positive outcomes of proactive approaches. Effective leadership and education are key in driving proactive climate change discussions. Companies like FridgeWize contribute by reducing kWh in HVAC-R systems, promoting proactive participation in the sustainability movement. Let's work together towards a sustainable and proactive future. #ClimateAction #ProactiveChange

🌍 As #COP29 discussions continue, let’s take a moment to reflect on the profound challenges posed by climate change. Gernot Wagner and Martin Weitzman captured the essence of these challenges perfectly with what they called the “Big Four” factors: 1️⃣ Uniquely Global: Climate change transcends borders, affecting every corner of the planet. 2️⃣ Uniquely Long-Term: Its impacts stretch across generations, demanding foresight and resilience. 3️⃣ Uniquely Irreversible: Once tipping points are crossed, there’s no turning back. 4️⃣ Uniquely Uncertain: The unpredictability of its effects makes planning and action even more critical. As we navigate the complexities of #ClimatePolicy, we must keep these factors in mind. The stakes are immense, but so is the opportunity for innovation, collaboration, and transformative change. 💡 What do you think is the most urgent #climateAction we need to focus on today?

Addressing climate change means focusing on the emissions we can control—especially the often-overlooked Scope 3 emissions, which arise throughout the value chain. Reducing them calls for new strategies, innovation, and strong collaboration across industries. Curious how companies are moving beyond plans to progress on net zero? "The air we breathe is warming our planet. What can we do about it?" Our planet is warming faster now than at any time in recorded history. Rising temperatures are altering weather patterns, posing significant risks to humans and all life on Earth. This issue is deeply intertwined with Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action, which emphasizes the importance of integrating climate change measures into national policies and enhancing our capacity to tackle climate-related challenges. I am passionate about urging governments and industries to adopt sustainable practices, increase investments in renewable energy, and enforce stricter emission regulations. Our planet's future depends on the choices we make today, and we must take meaningful action. Through COMM5501, I have a deeper understanding of SDGs, and can better analyze data. My self-assessment of my data story on this topic is 8/10. Watch the video to learn more about the impact of emissions around the world. Join me in this journey towards a more prosperous future for all. @Poon Leung #unswDataVisComm Watch the video here
