In the competitive landscape of esports, few rivalries are as exciting as the upcoming showdown between Weibo Gaming (WBG) and Bilibili Gaming (BLG) in the League of Legends World Championship 2024 semi-final. This highly anticipated clash not only showcases the pinnacle of skill and strategy but will also determine which team earns the coveted spot in the grand finals, representing the LoL Pro League (LPL) in China on the global stage. Both teams bring rich histories and fiercely competitive spirits, setting the scene for what promises to be a legendary best-of-five series. As we count down to October 26th for this monumental event, the significant advantages seem to tilt towards BLG, boasting an impressive track record against WBG throughout the season. Yet, if there's anything we have learned in esports, it's that past victories do not guarantee future success. WBG is likely crafting new strategies to break BLG's formidable momentum. The rivalry extends back to their previous encounters in the 2024 LPL splits, punctuated by BLG's success in the Mid-Season Invitational finals and a striking win streak, while WBG has savored key wins, including BLG's elimination in LoL Worlds 2023. With the games being played on Patch 14.18, slight tweaks in gameplay and champion selection could tip the scales in anyone's favor. The tense battleground at the Adidas Arena in Paris will indeed be a crucible for these LPL powerhouses. Seize the opportunity to witness history in the making by tuning into Riot Games' official streaming platforms. Watch these titans of esports as they redefine what competitive gaming can achieve. 📱💥 The future is mobile. Mobile games are more popular than ever, leading to a higher demand in mobile esports leagues around the world. These leagues can easily keep up with traditional PC and console esports counterparts in both prize pools and viewership. Sam Braithwaite VP Game Ecosystems for Mobile at EFG, talked to Kevin Hitt at Sports Business Journal about mobile esports growth and what the future holds. “Mobile is the preferred way to game for the vast majority of the world, and those titles often have in-game, monetized qualification circuits for esports competitors. This creates revenue publishers can inject back into their esports ecosystems.” “The massive and growing player bases of some of games, like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Brawl Stars, lead to prize pools that might be surprising to fans in North America, who are less familiar with mobile esports culture, but not at all surprising to fans elsewhere. We’ve seen this audience growth pay dividends in our own Snapdragon Pro Series mobile esports league, and we expect it to continue in the years to come.” Check out the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gEJcHfGE #MobileEsports #GamingFuture #mobilegames #mlbb #brawlstars #supercell Image: Copyright: Daniel Santos, ESL FACEIT Group

During the third quarter of 2024, numerous top esports titles hosted major Summer tournaments, while some disciplines concluded their seasons with grand finales. This period featured several of the year’s most popular events across mobile gaming, MOBAs, and shooting games. Two Mobile Legends: Bang Bang events lead the top 10 in terms of popularity, Esports World Cup x MLBB Mid Season Cup and MPL Indonesia Season 14. Both events have reached over 2M Peak Viewers! League of Legends takes over the following two spots, with LCK Regional Finals and Summer Split peaking above 1.6M concurrent viewers. Dota 2's The International 2024 completes the TOP 5. Although its 1.5M peak its impressive in the context of the quarter, it falls short of the heights reached by past Counter-Strike and VALORANT events in 2024. With TI finished, it is unlikely the game will climb any higher in our Top Games of the year rankings.
