Triple pleasure in two weeks’ time Talking about things I love makes me happy. On March 15th I gave a presentation at European Robotics Forum, Rimini, Italy. The title was “Future Worksites - from academic demonstrations to real-world implementations”. That particular workshop was organized by Professor Juha Röning from University of Oulu and by Antti Sirén from FIMA – Forum for Intelligent Machines Ry. I was able to review what we did during two decades at Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan (Helsinki University of Technology), now Aalto University, and what we have been doing since the start of GIM Robotics in 2014. A real pleasure. Last weekend on March 23rd, I talked in Nakkila, Finland to a group of fly fisherman from a sport fishing club (Nakkilan Seudun Koskikalastajat) about my favorite form of fly fishing, the way how to fish effectively large Atlantic salmon with dry flies. I absolutely loved that. And finally, on March 26th I was blessed to go back to my alma mater, Aalto University, and give a lecture titled as “ROS as an Enabler” to a great bunch of master students participating in the Autonomous Mobile Robots Course, lead by Professor Tomasz Piotr Kucner, about the importance of the concept called Middleware, and especially about the Robot Operating System (ROS, or nowadays ROS1) and the following next generation ROS2. What a feeling it was to go back to that familiar lecture hall, where I have given so many lectures before, and tell the students what we have been doing in the field of Middleware, even prior to launch of ROS, and how important ROS2 is and will be for robotics research and development in the academic world and in the business world alike in the coming years. I hope that the examples from GIM Robotics’ public portfolio will motivate those students to learn the finer details of ROS2 and then consider us after their graduation. My interest in Robotics field started in 2019 . 7 young selected to participate at the Olympic robotics " FIRST GLOBAL CHALLENGE " in Dubaï. I am the mecano of the team , We built a robot for the topic " OCEAN OPPORTUNITY" , the goal is to avoid the water Pollution .

💡 New Spotlight: Daniel Alp and using Foxglove to make it to the VEX world championships 💡 With over 10,000 teams across the globe, the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) is the world’s largest high school robotics program. Combining engineering and strategy, VRC challenges students to build and program robots for game-based tasks. For the past three years, Daniel Alp has competed in VRC as the captain of his school’s team. They’ve made it to the world championship twice and were finalists in the 2024 Ontario, Canada provincials. 🤖 “Overall, I’ve found Foxglove easy to plug into and customize. Instead of sticking with inefficient visualization methods or getting bogged down in reinventing the wheel, I was able to move quickly and significantly cut the time spent tuning and debugging”. NVIDIA has unveiled Project GROOT, a new technology aimed at teaching humanoid robots by using real-world and simulated data. GROOT is an advanced program designed to understand language, process video, and learn from demonstrations to determine its next move. So, what's the bottom line? ➡️ Simply put, if you demonstrate a task like cooking or playing the drums to it several times, GROOT can learn to replicate that task by itself. NVIDIA recently announced something pretty groundbreaking: Project GR00T and a big update to their Isaac Robotics Platform. This is a big one. Picture robots that not only understand and speak your language but also learn from watching your moves. That is the promise of Project GR00T. It feels like we successfully entered a new era of robots. Nvidia also introduced Jetson Thor, a powerhouse of a computer designed specifically for these advanced robots, featuring top-notch AI performance capabilities. Plus, the Isaac platform got a serious boost, including new simulation tools and AI workflows that could dramatically change how robots learn and operate.
