First ever Global Oral Health Meeting has concluded with a remarkable positive outcome which is the formulation and endorsement of the Bangkok Declaration. What a week it has been and grateful are our hearts to share our experiences, successes and challenges faced by WHO member states with regards to Oral Health Services within their own respective Health Systems. The Rapid Oral Health Assessment and Roadmap provided by WHO was a game changer and an enabling tool for all countries to identify priorities and put them into actionable steps and strategically align them with GOHAP. For Samoa - our priority has been set and we hope to ride on this encouraging momentum so that our first ever National Oral Health Policy will eventuate next year - 2025! With such policy being put into place, we hope to see Oral Health being intergrated into Primary Health Care so that Universal Health Coverage can be strengthened and achieved for our people. As participants of this first GOHM our cups have runneth over with gratitude and appreciation of the hosting Country- The Kingdom of Thailand and WHOs Technical Team and associates for facilitating the entire Meeting. "The time for diagnosing our problems is over, it is time to treat and operate on our problems" - Director WPRO As Oral Health Professionals we are the gatekeepers and servants of our Oral Health system and services. We were kindly reminded by Dr Saia Piukala in his inspiring speech, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others" - Mahatma Ghandi. In one Samoan proverb "The path to Leadership is through service and serving others". There is NO Health WITHOUT ORAL HEALTH 🫶 #GOHM #GOHAP2030 #BangkokDeclaration2024

Seven million premature deaths are recorded annually as a consequence of air pollution. We see an increase in cases of bronchitis & exacerbations of chronic lung diseases eg asthma & COPD. The effects are not confined to the lungs though - although the lungs are the primary route for fine airborne particles to enter the body, impact is also felt in the neurological & cardiovascular systems, amongst others. While overarching policies are essential, these often take time to implement. In this clip by Astro AWANI, I share some thoughts on what we can do more locally. https://lnkd.in/g4bM3aDk

Such important work 👍🏽👍🏻👍🏿 “Why This Matters: The Bangkok Declaration solidifies oral health as a key priority in Universal Health Coverage (UHC), ensuring millions worldwide can access the care they need. It’s a monumental step, but the work doesn’t stop here. Now, it’s up to us to show why oral health matters on local and national levels.” #unspokensmiles #leadership #globalhealth #oralhealth
As the Founder of UNSPOKEN SMILES, I am deeply humbled to witness and contribute to the adoption of the Bangkok Declaration at the World Health Organization Global Oral Health Meeting. This is more than a moment in history—it is the realization of a lifelong mission to elevate oral health to the global stage. Why This Matters: The Bangkok Declaration solidifies oral health as a key priority in Universal Health Coverage (UHC), ensuring millions worldwide can access the care they need. It’s a monumental step, but the work doesn’t stop here. Now, it’s up to us to show why oral health matters on local and national levels. At Unspoken Smiles, we are ready to lead the way. With our innovative clinic model and our recent partnership with ULACIT, we are better positioned than ever to turn global commitments into tangible, life-changing action for communities. This journey—from advocating for oral health after the devastating Haiti earthquake to now standing alongside world leaders in Bangkok—proves the power of persistence, collaboration, and purpose. Let’s continue to advocate, innovate, and create a future where every smile is celebrated and cared for. Together, we can build healthier communities and a healthier world. #BangkokDeclaration #UnspokenSmiles #OralHealthForAll #WHO #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity #TogetherForHealth #NoHealthWithoutOralHealth #OralHealthMatters #ChangeMakers #ulacit #costarica
