Women's access to financial products that *they* want is central to some work that we have been doing over the last two years. One step in this direction was to continually reach out to and engage with the network of people and organisations who're curious about and/or working in this space because we didn't want to reinvent the wheel as well as help others avoid that too.
So (in addition to a whole host of things), we started a newsletter series and continue to publish one every 3-4 months or so. Trisha Ghoshal drives this in her usual gentle giant ways.
Today, this newsletter reaches more than 800 people. It is opened by 2 in 5 people against the industry standard of 2 in 10.
While the current gender gap in the access to and adoption of financial services is massive, I am stoked knowing that folks out there are thinking about women's financial inclusion.
If you are building women centric financial products or want to partner in this pursuit, let's chat.

Happy International Women's Day to all the women that actively move forward making a difference.
We cannot do enough to support other women and minority groups in forging a positive path into the future.
As a woman entrepreneur with 25 years experience in owning my own business, I have seen a lot of change for the better. More women on boards, holding leadership positions and getting better remuneration - but as statistics show, we still have a long way to go.
Women can sometimes be our own worse enemies.
- Competitive women may hold other women back from getting equal billing especially when it comes to board seats.
- Women need to champion other women, even if they are competitors, because there is enough business out there for everyone.
- Let younger women take your position at a speaking event. You were once given an opportunity and now is the time to pass that baton. So many older women speak at every event (same speakers over and over again), and yet while your experience is great, you are not helping women take the stage.
- Understand that men and women are not born equal and some of that is genetics. Women getting pregnant or going through menopause may have challenges -- being more understanding is critical to change.
- Make another woman's day by complimenting them on their success or journey.
Today, I was featured in IT Brief, CFO Magazine, Channel Life and a number of other editorials around the globe. Next year, I would love to pass that baton.

Entering 2024, the funding landscape for #women#founders remains challenging, but it's time to focus on solutions. Despite the benefits of gender diversity in startups and increasing valuations of women-founded ventures, securing funding remains elusive. While policy changes have addressed overt discrimination, subtle biases persist in pitch rooms. Here are three strategies to navigate and counteract these biases:
🔊 Reframe the narrative: Shift from prevention to promotion. By addressing risk concerns and then highlighting growth opportunities, founders can better align with investor expectations and increase their chances of funding.
👑 Address imposter syndrome: Recognize and overcome self-doubt by cultivating support networks and diving into market data, empowering founders to convey their venture's value effectively.
🚀 Emphasize opportunity over impact: Challenge biases by showcasing the financial potential and unique market insights of women-led businesses, reframing them as lucrative investments.
Let's empower women founders to overcome biases and pave the way for inclusivity and success in entrepreneurship. Together, we can create an environment where every founder has an equal opportunity to thrive.

Thank you, Evgenia Plotnikova, for your empowering and crucial message 👏
The narrative that we're short on female partners in the European venture capital landscape is certainly not due to a shortage of capable and ready talent. On the contrary, the pool of exceptionally talented women ready to step up / already killing it is abundant and robust (just to quote a few: Melina Sánchez Montañés, Pauline Roux, Sophie Winwood, Namratha Kothapalli, Sabine VanderLinden, Roxanne VARZA and the list goes on...)
Evidence from numerous studies consistently supports the idea that diversity within management teams doesn't just boost creativity and innovation but also leads to better financial outcomes. These benefits stem not only from gender diversity but also from the richness of varied work experiences and perspectives that women bring to the table 💥
It's particularly disheartening, on the cusp of International Women's Day, to hear opinions that reduce a female hire to a cost. Women are not a 'tax' on resources; they are invaluable assets to any organization.
But it also shows how important it is to acknowledge and celebrate the critical roles that women play in the European tech scene, as investors, founders, operators, and advisors 🌟
As an junior female investor in the European VC industry, I am incredibly inspired by the multitude of female role models available to me. Additionally, I am thankful to be part of a nurturing team that dedicates time to mentor me and fosters my growth, kopa ventures (formerly Wi Venture) 🌍

It is not me, it is her / them—that is the message from Hussein Kanji at Hoxton Ventures on his inability to hire women for his fund or his lack of time and desire to train someone up. The message many might take from this article is that it is a 'tax' to train women in Europe, and they are not worthy. To every woman in Europe: you *are* worthy, do not let anyone let you believe you are not. Tomorrow is International Women's Day and I'd like to congratulate every woman at Dawn Capital (the majority of our IC is female and our 14-person investment team is 7 women strong) and every female investor, founder, operator and advisor in European tech on all of your wonderful accomplishments—I am very proud to be part of my firm and of this ecosystem. Go get them ladies, onwards and upwards!

I hope nowadays, everyone, especially powerful men in tech, should be aware that it is not acceptable anymore to think of women as any less than them. It is highly disgraceful, and not speaking up means tolerating gender inequality in tech. The first step to tackle allocating only 1% of VC funding to women is to say something when something isn’t right. This is the 21st century and not a time when women cannot have a Harrods card for 30 years. A family friend who’s 70 was so surprised that I’m running my startup as, at her time, she wasn’t even allowed to have a Harrods card without her husband’s name. We have changed and done so much better since. But we can do better as a society and as an industry. Anyone who says this type of comment/ behaviour is acceptable is against making women equal. I urge you all to reflect and start making changes for a better tomorrow for all the women, your daughters, your cousins, and your friends.

And is there data for folks to do research/Ph.D.s in? If so, that would be quite wonderful.
