With Australia on track to meet its current 43 per cent by 2030 greenhouse gas reduction target (see data below) even before the most recent May 2024 budget's climate measures, why has the Federal opposition walked away from having a 2030 national greenhouse gas reduction target last week? The media is reporting that the Federal opposition party is claiming Australia won't reach its 2030 target (https://lnkd.in/geTU-bph) - but the official Australian Government figures below show clearly Australia is on track to meet its 2030 target. Very odd. https://lnkd.in/ga7rs7CW

Amidst the massive progress on renewables, and the growing though less massive progress on circular and regenerative (and fitful progress on inclusion and justice), there's also massive resistance. Along with its bedfellow, #massive #disinformation.
Massive #disinformation campaigns, run by fossil fuel companies, are slowing down global #climateaction. This is perceived by politicians as a global "backlash" against green policies, coming at the time, when it's more urgent than ever to transition away from fossil fuels. It is also coming at the time, when solutions, such as renewables, are the cheapest they have ever been and we could easily accelerate transition. What is not mentioned in this article is that we are seeing a very similar backlash, when it comes to #food and #farming. Although there is less of a transition happening in that sector, we see powerful Big Ag lobbies using #fossilfuel industry tactics (as well as some of the same PR firms) to distract, delay and derail climate action. https://lnkd.in/dsxT2imD The EU’s greenhouse gas emissions fell 8% last year, the European Environment Agency (EEA) has found, as the continent continues to close down coal-fired power plants and make more electricity from sun and wind.

Tactics used to delay Adaptation Efforts The issue to recognize is that large “factories” of all sorts have the most to lose with change. Modeled as a system, Agriculture has used centralized architectures to gain efficiencies to build profit. This is a logical approach to operations, however, the structure of the business has become obsolete from an environmental, social, and economic perspective due to the byproducts of pollutants, and degradation of local economies. We are witnessing the End-of-Lifecycle of centralized operations spanning energy, agriculture, along with other sectors because their relevance no longer aligns with our current situation and reality. Distributed energy production with renewable systems is more resilient to environmental changes and malicious threats. This kind of systems architecture does not preclude interoperability between global nodes in the system. The Communications Industry/Sector is currently under evaluation primarily because of AI (Artificial Intelligence). Data Management for the network is “hosted” by a few massive companies. That data management includes government communications. The warnings surrounding centralized AI are valid. This is a hierarchical structure that was necessary in the earlier days for technological limitation reasons. But like the splitting of a cellular organism when it becomes too large into multiple cells in living systems (#biomimicry), we need to rearchitect the network for distributed intelligence. What I reference as Augmented Intelligence (#SpatialWeb). We need to consider the network like an extension of human neurology. We have created a nervous system that is global and need to acknowledge it as such, and model it’s operations more like a living organism, symbiotically, different from the mechanical and control oriented mechanism typical of manmade systems. Back to the perceptual orientation/propaganda tools being utilized by the factory-scale agricultural sector similar to that of the energy sector - methane production as a pollutant, not unlike the ozone destroying fluorocarbons of the past. The tactics of Big Meat and Dairy companies to delay, distract, and derail action on transforming the food system, mirroring strategies used by the tobacco and fossil fuel industries. Food systems are responsible for around a third of global greenhouse gas emissions, with approximately 60% coming from animal agriculture, the largest source of man-made methane emissions. The agricultural sector is a major climate change contributor through methane and nitrous oxide pollution and deforestation. Mismanagement and polluting of water systems is another unstable legacy of this industry. Significant public SUBSIDIES that the sector already receives remains off limits - for now!

🌏 Everything you need to know about the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (and how it affects your business) The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) a set of guidelines that helps organizations figure out and manage their greenhouse gas emissions. This is becoming super important for Australian businesses, especially with new mandatory reporting rules kicking in January 2025. The GHG Protocol, created back in the late 90s, offers globally accepted standards for measuring and reporting emissions. It focuses on: - Tracking emissions - Finding ways to cut down on GHGs - Managing climate-related risks and opportunities - Boosting transparency and reputation through public reporting 👉 Here’s the lowdown for Aussie businesses: Starting January 2025, the Aussie government will require big companies to start reporting their emissions every year. Smaller companies will follow, with full mandatory reporting by 2030. So, what do you think—will this help protect our climate? If you're scratching your head over GHG emission reporting, send me a DM for a free consultation! 🌟

Germany's recent strides in combating global warming mark a significant milestone, with a notable 10.1% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions reported last year—the most substantial drop since 1990. This achievement underscores the country's shift towards renewable energy sources, alongside decreased reliance on coal and gas. As Germany forges ahead on its path towards sustainability, there is optimism and increased confidence in the nation's ability to meet its climate objectives.
