Here were my worries as a therapist...Comment if this resonates or with your own.. Logisitically---I needed to plan for deductible season in private practice and check benefits before January. Also, there are so many cancellations (and emergnecies in December) it was hard with my condensed schedule to know who would show up. Personally--With kids the pressure to have the "perfect" holiday is huge. Even if I know there is no such thing Clinically--Clients are also stressed, dealing with grief, their own families, etc.

For me, the biggest struggle during the holidays in PP is managing the low client turn out. It's a huge hit financially, and while I love and appreciate the break, it's hard for me to fully unwind when I'm thinking about money.

Struggling with taking off time when people need extra support. My schedule has been so full lately that I've been booking people on the day I blocked off for my own mental health. 🙈

Whether or not ugly sweaters are allowed during session, or if they'd be too distracting.

I can relate to those two points: Clinically: Many clients experience heightened emotions and crises around family dynamics, loneliness, or grief, which can intensify the workload and require extra emotional energy from us as therapists. Burnout: For therapists already close to burnout, the holidays can amplify feelings of exhaustion, making it even harder to feel fully present and engaged. Happy to share more if you’d like! Looking forward to hearing the episode. ❤️

As a therapist, I struggle with having time for myself. The day I plan on resting and going out is the day my clients come in with emotional or mental turmoil. At one part you want to help (and I will help), but another side has denied me a 'Me' time. As therapists, we want to help everyone, but again, it can feel overwhelming. Great topic! I struggle with balancing the need for having my own time off and the pressure to be there for clients during a very stressful time. Additionally, this season can be challenging financially with increased no shows and cancellations, on top of planning for time off.

Personally, I am a Christmas fanatic. It's honestly difficult to keep that in check but I know I must given so many of our clients find holidays to be very painful. Also, juggling cancelations and thinking about deductible re-sets can be jarring.
