It happens every December...call it end of year reflection or preparation for New Year's resolutions...it is predictable. My inbox and direct messages start filling up with the questions. 🥗 What should I eat? ⚖️ How do I lose weight? 💊 What supplements should I take? 🤒 I have been sick with xyz - how do I get healthier? While there is no single answer that helps everyone, there are some principles that are pretty universal if you want to be healthy. 🫐 🥦 🥩 🫘 - Eat whole foods as much as possible. Fastest way to clean up your diet. 🚰 - Drink primarily water. Second to that, tea and coffee. 😴 - Get sleep, around 7 hours a night, in a dark quiet place. As much as possible on a regular schedule. 🚶♀️🏃➡️ ⛷️ 🏋 - Get some movement. Every day is ideal. It doesn't have to be at a gym. 🌳 🏖️ ⛰️ - Spend time outside. Your backyard or a local park or the woods or the beach or anywhere. 👂- Learn to listen to your body. Listen for when it is hungry, full, thirsty, tired, sick, sore. Those signals exist for a reason and if you ignore them for too long you will have a problem. 👯 - Maintain good relationships with people who feed your soul (and try to minimize toxic ones) 📚 - Keep learning new things. 👌 - No one is perfect. Sure you can aim for 100% - but 80% is just fine. 💊 - Since you aren't perfect, invest in some backup. I literally tell everyone to take a good quality multivitamin and fish oil. 🩺 - Have a physical, see your dentist, get an eye exam. Get regular screening labs. Prevention requires knowledge. May 2025 be a healthy year for all of you 🙏 #reflection #health #prevention #resolutions
