With three decades of experience in Japan recruitment, I’ve seen firsthand how crucial it is for companies to facilitate seamless leadership transitions, especially in a market as unique and complex as Japan. Every time I meet with a client, I’m reminded of the distinct challenges that MNCs face here. The cultural nuances, the competitive talent market, and the need for leaders who not only have a deep understanding of local business practices but also a strategic, global perspective are all critical factors. Successful succession planning in this context ensures that new leaders are not just equipped to navigate these complexities but are also ready to bring innovative perspectives that drive long-term success. Organizations that prioritize this approach are the ones that thrive, as their leaders are aligned with both local market dynamics and global strategies. The companies that excel in succession planning are those that think ahead—preparing for leadership changes, whether due to retirement, resignation, or other transitions. A well-executed transition doesn’t just maintain the status quo; it can unlock new opportunities, enhance organizational resilience, and lead to sustained growth. So, how is your organization preparing for the next chapter in leadership, especially in challenging global markets like Japan? Is your bench strong enough to lead you into the future? At FocusCore’s, we help global companies hire the best executives in Japan. #Leadership #SuccessionPlanning #Growth #Japan #CSuite

Interesting commentaries from the French-Japanese Business Summit in Tokyo. Business leaders from both Japan and France agreed that adaptability is no longer optional; it’s essential. As global supply chains evolve, consumer behaviour changes, and uncertainty appears to be the only constant, businesses must embrace a mindset shift to stay competitive. Great to hear that massive companies like Ajinomoto are abandoning typical 3-year business plans in favour of a longer-term vision paired with flexible execution. This approach allows them to adapt to rapid changes while staying focused on their ultimate goals. Similarly, leaders across industries are rethinking traditional strategies, recognising that local nuances now play a critical role in success. Mindset is just as important as strategy. Change isn’t just something to navigate; it’s an opportunity to innovate, collaborate, and redefine business norms. Geopolitical shifts, evolving consumer demands, and market-specific challenges are all forcing companies to be more agile. How is your company shifting its mindset to meet today’s challenges? #Leadership #BusinessStrategy #Agility #Innovation フォーカスコア Simon Jelfs Dr. David Sweet David Chong Jack Stone Lisa Yasuda Jamieson Paling Ed Chynoweth Thomas Bangert

Are you a global leader? Global leadership is not only having a clear understanding of the global market, emerging trends, and the ability to develop long-term strategies that align with global opportunities and challenges. It also entails cultural intelligence and developing a global mindset. A global leader has the ability to understand, respect, and adapt to cultural differences and diverse perspectives. This includes an awareness of one’s own cultural biases and an openness to learning from others. An outlook that goes beyond local or national perspectives, understanding the interconnectedness of global markets, economies, and cultures. Here are some tips to help you strengthen your cultural intelligence and global mindset. #globalbusiness #international

As leaders, we often face a complex conflict: the pursuit of work-life balance while driving aggressive growth, particularly in a fast-paced region like the Middle East. The ambition to achieve double-digit growth—whether in expanding markets, digital transformation, or maximizing profitability—demands relentless focus, long hours, and unwavering commitment. Yet, with such ambition comes the question: how do we balance this with personal well-being and sustainable leadership? The Middle East offers tremendous opportunities for growth, but the pressure to stay ahead of the curve can lead to burnout if not managed properly. As leaders, we must: • Prioritize Health & Well-being: Not just for ourselves, but for our teams. We set the tone. Promoting a culture that values mental and physical health ultimately drives more sustainable growth. • Leverage Technology: Digital tools can enhance efficiency, allowing us to achieve more without necessarily increasing hours worked. This helps maintain focus on both professional and personal priorities. • Delegate & Empower: Ambitious targets can’t rest solely on a few. Building high-performing teams and empowering them to take ownership allows for shared success and better balance across the board. Ambition and balance don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Striking the right equilibrium is a continual process, but one that can ensure long-term success both for businesses and for us as leaders. The real challenge lies in maintaining perspective—achieving growth while also recognizing that personal fulfillment is just as essential to long-term leadership success. #Growth #Middleeast #Empower #Digitalization #automation

Speaker | Leadership Coach | Cultural Intelligence Expert. Founder of Compatible where I coach leaders and organisations to become culturally intelligent.
It’s not necessarily more difficult to be a leader nowadays, but it’s definitely more complex. That’s why, in addition to be navigators, leaders also need to be chameleons. Leaders need to guide their teams through constant change and cultural diversity. And just like a chameleon, they must blend into any environment while staying true to themselves. Flexibility is no longer just a "nice-to-have" quality for leaders; it’s a necessity. Imagine leading a multicultural team—where your marketing manager is from Brazil, your finance head from India, and your creative director from Italy. They all bring incredible value, but unless you can adapt, understanding their cultural perspectives and leveraging their unique strengths, you’ll miss out on their full potential. True leadership in multicultural environments requires more than just tolerance for diversity—it demands an ability to live it, to shape-shift your leadership style to meet the needs of every moment. Like the chameleon adapting to its surroundings, leaders who thrive in today’s business environment are those who can pivot effortlessly. We’ve seen this play out with the rise of digital transformation. The companies that embraced change early, led by adaptable leaders, were the ones that survived and even outperformed during turbulent times. They didn’t view change as a threat but as an opportunity to grow, to blend into the next phase of evolution. In fact, if you’re not already adapting to Artificial Intelligence, you’d better catch up. When you embrace this chameleon-like flexibility, something powerful happens. Your team becomes your ecosystem, a blend of perspectives and experiences, and the differences that once seemed like barriers now become a spectrum of strengths. This is where the magic happens. This is how you not only lead but thrive in a global workplace. The future belongs to leaders who don’t see diversity as a challenge but as a tool for innovation. And just like a chameleon, you’ll find that by blending into every new environment, you unlock the hidden potential of your team—and of yourself. 👉🏼 Follow for more insights and tips on the art of cultural intelligence.
