innocent drinks is pledging 1 million pounds to support regenerative farming projects 🍎🌾💰 As part of their Farmer Innovation Fund, the company plans to invest grants ranging from £20,000 to £500,000. The fund is open to all ingredient suppliers, with a focus on apples and oranges which have the highest carbon emissions. Purpose? To enhance sustainable and Regen farming practices while securing long term supply of fresh ingredients. If you don't know already, innocent drinks makes juices and smoothies from fresh fruits sourced from all over the world. 🍉🍎🍇 The brand is known for their transparent supply chain, ethical sourcing practices and sustainability initiatives. So this decision is right on brand with their values! It's refreshing to see big corporations like innocent support farmers within their supply chain to transition to regenerative farming. Monoculture is killing our planet and soils. We are losing our topsoil at an alarming rate. In a bright future for humanity, will we give up animal meat and livestock farming? Do you find this idea attractive? I haven’t decided on an answer to this question yet, but I’m most intrigued by green startups focusing on meat alternatives. For example, meati™ recently raised the largest investment for an alternative protein company. They make their product, which mimics chicken and beef, by fermenting mushroom root biomass. Founded in 2019, the company now has 6,000 stores, all within the USA, and aims for $1 billion in sales by 2025. meati™ looks much like real meat, and vegans generally approve of its texture and taste. The price is about $10 for a 250g steak pack. Not exactly cheap, but if their adoption and production scale keep growing at this pace... What are the chances that your children or grandchildren will switch to such products?
