A broad overview of India’s MRO capabilities reveals sharp contrast in capability development. On one hand, India’s airframe maintenance capabilities have grown by leaps and bounds. Now, almost 90% of domestic airlines carry out airframe maintenance in-house. On the other hand, there is a huge gap in the engine and component overhaul segment. https://lnkd.in/gHEVE47W #aviation #airlines #aircraftleasing #MRO

MRO, which stands for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul, encompasses the essential services required by any industry that relies on machinery for operations. In the aviation industry, "MRO aviation" refers to all activities aimed at keeping aircraft ready for flight at any time. Typically, maintenance operations focus on the engines or airframes of airplanes. However, component MRO is now also included in these activities. The Aircraft Engine MRO Market is expected to reach USD 82.1 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 5.7%. This growth is driven by the rapid expansion plans of military and airline fleets. The demand for aircraft engine MRO will further increase as newer generation engines are installed in new aircraft, which require more expensive materials than older engines. This factor is expected to significantly boost the Aircraft Engine MRO Market during the forecast period. ✈ In the competitive world of aircraft engines, three giants dominate: 1. General Electric: Leading the pack with a 55% market share, GE's dominance is strengthened by its partnership with French engine maker Safran through CFM International, which accounts for 39% of this share. Including CFM products, GE leads the aircraft engine market globally. GE alone holds 16%, powering a wide range of aircraft. 2. Pratt & Whitney: Holding a 26% share, P&W focuses on innovative solutions for narrow-body jets. P&W engines can be found on the Airbus A220, A320 family, and A330, as well as the Boeing 747-400, 767, and Embraer E-jets. 3. Rolls-Royce: With 18% of the market, RR excels in wide-body aircraft engines. The Airbus A330, A340, A350, and A380, as well as Boeing 777 and 787, all feature Rolls-Royce engines. 🌍✈️ #aviation

It was reported earlier this week that China-based MRO firm Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd. (GAMECO) had started work on the first outsourced Airbus A380 12-year heavy maintenance check for Emirates. This event involves the most intensive structural inspections and component replacement work the aircraft will undergo during its lifetime. The A380 has come back into favour with a select group of carriers post-Covid (Cirium lists 165 in-service aircraft with 10 operators) which prompted the question, how many A380s have already undergone 12-year checks and how many will do so during the next three years? Cirium's Ground Events Analytics identifies five events since late-2023 (two each for Singapore Airlines and Lufhansa, in addition to Emirates) and projects a further 30 will occur by the second half of 2027. My chart assumes a typical ground duration of 50 days for future events, but precise timings, MRO providers and locations will be recorded as these aircraft pass through the hangars. Of the 35 aircraft included in my chart, 23 are Engine Alliance GP7200-equipped while the balance are powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 900s. I have also indicated the actual age each aircraft was – or is expected to be – at the start of its check. The data suggests there will be considerable pressure on hangar space and the associated supply chain from late-2025 through 2026, barring unforeseen events that could again reduce demand for such a high-capacity aircraft. #aerospace #mro #A380

𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 Aircraft Component MRO services encompass maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities for critical aircraft components such as landing gears, mechanical actuators, APUs, fuel systems, and avionics. This sector is projected to grow with a CAGR of 5.2%, reaching USD 36.3 billion by 2032, driven by increased air passenger traffic and stringent safety regulations. The market is segmented into narrow-body aircraft dominating due to their extensive industry use, and commercial air transport leading in application, driven by the regular maintenance needs of commercial fleets. Key growth drivers include rising demand for MRO services in commercial aviation and expansion of existing fleets. However, safety concerns remain a potential restraint, particularly in the context of stringent safety requirements and pandemic-related impacts on international travel. Recent developments include contracts such as RUAG Australia and the U.S. Navy for MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, highlighting ongoing industry partnerships and service expansions.
