3rd March 2024 | Sunday Chit-Chat Session with MCMC! Grateful for the enlightening encounter with MCMC's executives, Amirul Azrin Amiruddin and Haryati Suradi at the careers fair! Their warmth and vibrancy instantly set the tone for an engaging discussion that reshaped my perception of MCMC's role. Contrary to my initial assumptions, MCMC transcends mere media policies – it's a driving force behind Malaysia's rapidly evolving convergent communication and multimedia landscape. Their extensive connections with industry giants underscored the company's pivotal role in shaping the nation's digital future. What truly intrigued me was the breadth of MCMC's job scope. Beyond regulatory frameworks, they emphasized a holistic approach to recruitment, valuing attributes like eagerness to learn, humility, and hard work. This focus on cultivating a healthy working environment, evident through initiatives like weekly chills and sports meet-ups, resonated deeply with me. It's a testament to MCMC's commitment to nurturing talent and fostering balanced professional lives. Of particular interest were MCMC's collaborations with the Ministry of Education and the Minister of Communication and Multimedia, highlighting their central role in national policy formulation. The opportunity to advise on a wide range of stakeholder concerns – economic, technical, and social – and contribute to the implementation of new policies is both exciting and impactful. Additionally, their involvement in Certification Authority regulation, ensuring trustworthiness through licensing and audit mechanisms, underscores their dedication to maintaining industry integrity. #MCMC #CareerOpportunity #Innovation #Collaboration #DigitalFuture 🌐

Just a couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of driving the #TalentInSyncInitiative, a product of Opolo Global Innovation through the #JobFair, a complementary side event of Nigeria Fintech Week 2024. In Nigeria, with #unemployment currently at 33% (as of 2024) and youth unemployment even higher, there is an urgent need to connect talent with opportunities. On the other hand, globally, the demand for #techtalent is soaring, with an estimated 150 million new tech jobs expected to be created in the next 5 years. This is where the #TalentInSync Initiative comes in, developed by my team and me, to bridge this gap. We address the challenges companies face in securing top talent and the stumbling blocks #Nigerian emerging tech talents encounter in accessing global workforce opportunities. Although the #NFW24 Job fair has come and gone, the energy and commitment to solving unemployment problems remain strong! It was an amazing experience bringing together job seekers and leading companies like Jobberman Nigeria AXA DCSL Corporate Services Ltd , OneSpan Xpress Payment Solutions Ltd , The Bulb Africa and Mkoboto to shape the future of work. A special mention to Benedicta Alalade a key team player whose efforts were instrumental to the success of the success of the Job fair. Anticipate The Nigeria Fintech Week 2025. #nigeriafintechweek2024 #jobfair #fintech #techtalents #opologlobal

Project Launch | Empowering Somali Youth in London 🚀 Exciting Project Announcement! 🚀 I'm thrilled to share that I've taken the lead in planning and executing a Youth Career Fair tailored specifically for Somali youth aged 15-21 in London. This initiative is close to my heart as it directly addresses the high unemployment rates and underrepresentation of Somali youth in various industries. 🎯 Project Overview: - Target Audience: Somali youth, ages 15-21 - Objective: Connect young talent with opportunities across diverse sectors such as tech, engineering, medicine, law, teaching, and sustainability. - Collaborators: Coordinating with 6 partnering associations to bring this vision to life. 🛠 Skills & Experience Gained: - Project Planning & Execution: From initial concept to detailed project plan. - Stakeholder Management: Facilitated cross-functional meetings, ensuring alignment and clear action items. - Proposal Writing: Developed a comprehensive proposal to secure funding, highlighting the project’s impact and logistical needs. - Data-Driven Insights: Researched unemployment statistics and underrepresentation among Somali youth, integrating these findings into our strategy. 💡 Lessons Learned: - The importance of cross-functional collaboration: Effective communication and coordination with multiple stakeholders have been critical in aligning goals and ensuring progress. - Using the RACI Matrix: I was introduced to the RACI Matrix, which has been invaluable in clearly defining and documenting roles and responsibilities. This tool has greatly reduced confusion, ensured accountability, and kept the project on track. - The power of data-driven decision-making: Understanding the unique challenges faced by Somali youth has enabled us to create a more impactful and targeted event. 🔄 Next Steps: We're currently in the planning stages, with a focus on securing funding and finalising the event venue. The journey is just beginning, and I'm excited to share updates as we move forward. Stay tuned for more insights and progress on this important initiative! How can education providers challenge the status quo? We spoke to UTC Leeds, who are revolutionising the education sector through their focus on putting students and employers first. There, pupils aged 14 and over study a curriculum shaped around #STEM subjects and are taught real employability skills, such as being part of a team, personal time management and working with leading businesses like BAE Systems. Principal Hannah Wilson says their last careers fair at the college saw 85 employers turn up, having anticipated 40 – but it’s the impact the college has on social mobility that makes UTC Leeds one of our disruptors. You can read our full interview with Hannah on page 21 of our whitepaper, ‘Unleashing the power of disruption: how game-changers are shaping the future’.
