Some people think that when you put "open for work" on your LinkedIn profile, it's not a good sign. They believe it shows you're having a hard time finding a job and that employers might not want to hire you if they see this. Bullsheet. People don't use the label because they're desperate for a job. They use it because they're actively seeking new opportunities and want a wider range of options to choose from. It's about gathering more information to make an informed decision about their next career move. Indeed, the top performers, perhaps the top 10%, typically don't need to use that label. They're often headhunted and smoothly transition from one position to another. But what about the other 90%? Are they automatically deemed inferior because they're actively engaged in the job search process? No, off course no. It's perfectly natural to use the label when you're seeking new opportunities. In fact, it would be foolish not to use it if you're genuinely interested in exploring your options. The more opportunities you have coming in, the better you can assess your standing and make informed decisions. This helps in understanding what to ask for, negotiating offers, and effectively presenting yourself. Plus, it's all for free! #jobsearch #linkedin

🌟 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 🌟 As recruiters, our inboxes are flooded with messages from individuals seeking employment or responding to job vacancies. Let's talk about how to make your message to recruiters stand out from the crowd. Here are some tips: 1. 𝗕𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁: When you see a job ad that catches your eye, let the recruiter know exactly which role you're interested in. With so many similar opportunities out there, being clear is key. 2. 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲: Your LinkedIn profile is your chance to showcase your unique profile. Recruiters often scout for talent on LinkedIn, so make sure you're popping up in their searches with the right keywords. 3. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆: Before hitting send, take a good look at the job requirements. If you don't meet them, think twice about applying for the role. 4. 𝗧𝗮𝗽 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: If you have mutual connections with us or someone who has worked with us before, consider seeking a referral. Referrals often catch our attention more effectively than a cold outreach. 5. Let's work together to find the right fit for you, both now and in the future. 6. 𝗕𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲: Recruiters are hustling just like you are. Remember to be considerate of their time and workload. I help Executive Job Seekers_ Attract right opportunities through Resume & LinkedIn Branding ׀ Empathic Job Search Coach ׀ TopResumeGuide
How to identify & engage with right people to accelerate your job search. (A focus on conversations with applications is a winning strategy) 1. Networking with people actively offering opportunities. ↪️Search hiring (location, industry, and type of job) in the LinkedIn search bar (Not in the Jobs tab) and look for posts from people who are hiring. ↪️There are various filtering options; you can get posts from specific company. ↪️These posts give you a list of potential referrals, recruiters, and HMs. ↪️Send personalized messages/engage with their content. 2. Driving meaningful conversations with your target audience. ↪️Research about person and personalize your networking message. ↪️Your focus should be on getting a positive reply. ↪️Do not make a big ask in the first place. ↪️Be specific. P.S.: This was my go-to strategy for identifying and securing opportunities on LinkedIn. Which gradually changed to simply attracting opportunities. #networking #jobsearch #jobseekers

LinkedIn tip for opportunity seekers💡 It can be frustrating when you are actively looking for new opportunities but are struggling to get contacted by recruiters. Many people know about the "Open to Work" banner - but there is another (lesser known) tool to maximise the number of conversations you have with recruiters: the "Free to Inmail" feature. Each month, recruiters have a set number of "InMails" - which are messages that allow them to reach out to you without a connection. As their number of InMails per month are finite, recruiters have to be very selective over who they use their credits on - even if your profile looks great! When you turn on the "Free to Inmail" feature - it allows recruiters to message you without using their Inmail credits. Ultimately, this means that more recruiters can reach out to you (for free) - which could result in you having more opportunities presented to you. If you found this tip helpful, feel free to share with your network - and best of luck with the job search! #freetoinmail #linkedin #linkedinhack #recruiter #recruitertips #opportunities #quantitativefinance

If you need a job, it's going to be much easier tapping into your own network rather than trying to make new friends. You can only get referred for a job if people know you need one. So tell them. You need to make it easy for people to refer you: - Make a list of your closest friends and family members (Also consider ex-colleagues, managers, clients, suppliers, teachers, the postman. Run through your phone contacts - WhatsApp/Messenger) - Find out where they work - Visit their company’s careers page to see if they are hiring for any suitable roles - If they are hiring, ask your contact if they can refer you for the job *Keep in mind that companies often have specific processes for referrals. If you apply for the job before asking your contact for a referral, they might miss out on the referral bonus if you're hired. So, ask for the referral first, then apply. Asking for an introduction/referral: "I see that [Company] is hiring for a [Job Title] and I’m interested in applying as it’s a good fit. I’d love to get my info in front of the hiring manager. By any chance, could you make an introduction for me?" If you can’t see any available opportunities, just let people know that you’re on the hunt. (The main thing here is that you specify the types of jobs you’re looking for) Here is a message template to help you along: "Hi [First], I just wanted to let you know that I'm starting to look for a new job. If you hear of any [Job Title] positions that might be a good fit for me, I'd really appreciate it if you could send them my way. Any leads or introductions would be super helpful. Thanks for keeping me in mind." Use LinkedIn 🔍 Another option is to ask for introductions from people you're connected with on LinkedIn. If you know someone on a first name basis, it’s worth asking them to put in a word for you at their company. Go through your first connections on LinkedIn to see who can vouch for you. "Hi [Name], How are things? I see that [Company] is hiring for a [Job] and I’m interested in applying as it’s a good fit. I’d love to get my info in front of [Manager’s name]. By any chance, could you make an introduction for me?" If their employer isn't publicly hiring, try this message template: "Hi [First name], hoping all is well. I’m currently on the hunt for a new job and wanted to check if your company is hiring for any [Job Title] roles. Thanks for your time, and I appreciate any information you can share!" Give your references a heads up 📞 Another option is to let old managers and coworkers know you’re going to need them as a reference. They may know someone hiring, or they might be hiring themselves. "I wanted to give you a heads up — I'm starting to look for a new job in [Your Industry]. Would you mind if I listed you as a reference? Also, if you happen to hear of any openings for a [Job Title], I’d be grateful if you could send them my way!"
