Salaam Alaikum Mahmudullah Ovako. Hello everyone. In today's session, we will learn how to write a literature review for your research report. This is of course a crucial part of your research, and today we are going to learn how to do it effectively. So when we talk about a literature review or let's say a mini literature review, we are referring to a concise version. Typically literature reviews can be quite lengthy, as you know, but for your proposal or research report you will be focusing on a virgin that's limited to about 5 to 6 pages, plus your references. So now let's get something clear. A literature review is not just a list where you describe or summarize one piece of literature after another. It's not about reading 10 papers and then writing a summary for each. What we aim for in a literature review is to evaluate the major points of these papers and present them in an organized. Cohesive format of course, So your literature in this case should help you understand your topic, bitter at Domino's rate, your knowledge on the topic you are choosing, and it's about bringing your reader up to date on what has been done before and setting the stage for what you are about to do in your research. OK. So what's the function of a literature review? It's not just to review the literature, of course, though in a way it is. The literature review provides a summary and evaluation of the major works and concepts in your field of study. It's about showing relationships between different studies and relating them to your own work. So now, how to accurately and effectively compose your literature review? An essential aspect of your literature review is accuracy. Ensure that your citations are correct and that the findings you attribute to other authors are accurately represented. It is also vital to be comprehensive, but remember, you can't cover every single paper written on your topic. You need to be selective, including the most important and relative Fox. OK then. Questions your literature review should answer. Your literature review should answer several key questions, like what do we already know in this area? What are the relationships between the key concepts and variables, what are the current theories, and where are the gaps? So think about that variations you find and areas that need further testing. All these aspects should lead back to the central question of why this topic needs further study and how it connects to your research. OK, so now let's move on the writing process itself. Writing a literature review requires time and effort, so don't leave it until the last minute. Start early and give yourself enough time to do it properly. Like, begin by collecting information from various sources such as peer reviewed journal articles, books, conference proceedings, and reputable reports. Avoid. Unreliable sources like personal opinions or non scholary article. OK, student, So in our next part, let's check an example of how to write a literature review to maintain a formal academic style. So let's check one of my articles. Here. This one. So as you can see here, this provided documents summarizes a study by me. On the applicability of robotic cars in the military in detecting animate and inanimate obstacles in the real time to detect terrorists and explosives. And let's check the abstract. OK. So as you can see here, the abstract details that the study focuses on the design and implementation of robotic car with the capability to detect and avoid obstacles in real time. So OK if you go again. Through lines check this line here. There are numerous hardware components used to create the robots such as the Bluetooth module, buzzers, ultrasonic sensor and so on. As you can see, this article emphasizes the significance of advancements in sensor technology. Of course on their applications in robotic systems for various live improving, so it particularly focuses on the integration of sensors for obstacle detection. And avoidance utilizing Bluetooth technology for communication between the robot and Android devices. So once you're done, students from checking the abstract. Go to check the conclusion. So students as you can see here in conclusion, the article reiterates that while many or numerous articles studies have focused on robotic cars using different technological platforms, This is study proposes as you can see here a novel design with real time detection capabilities suggesting potential enhancement such as replacing the Bluetooth module with a Wi-Fi module for better connection around and stability. OK students, now let's move on to how to write a literature review from such an article. And as you know, we have done this activity last Thursday, so. Back again to the main. Agenda here. OK, as you know both Nahaz group. And Rammy's group won the prizes on how to draft a clear and effective literature review, So let's check. That first group, Nahezu group, as you can see, demonstrates the principles of writing a concise and clear literature review based on my article. So let's break down their approaches. They begin, as you can see here, with a clear statement of what the study by me is about. And of course, they would my name, the author name a Ruzicki. Then they mention the creation of robotic see. The creation of robotic card that have the ability. The creation of robotic cars capable of detecting and avoiding obstacles in real time. So this is a crucial as it sets the context for the reader immediately after that here. As you can see, they cite the source a Ruzicki 2021. This is a good academic practice and gives credibility to their review. And the hearts of group review. OK, so again started by introducing the studies main focus robotic cars with real time obstacle detection and right after this introduction they gave credit to the source. Then. They explained that design. As you can see and technology behind these cars like how an Android app and ordino platform come together. OK, so. Move to this section. They outline the key components of the robotic car, giving enough detail to show they understand. About the technicalities, but keep it simple enough for the reader to follow. OK, if you notice here. Here. And the last lines here from from 2:00 to the range, they include the author's suggestion to use Wi-Fi for a more stable and expansive range. This shows they considering future applications and improvements. Again, see how they mention Bluetooth. Here but also suggest using Wi-Fi. That's thinking ahead. OK, so students notice that pattern after each significant point. They are citing me. Here, here, here. OK. So. This isn't just a good manners, it's good science. So the group review is a blueprint for us. They were clear, detailed, But they don't overwhelm They credit their sources faithfully. Let's check. Rammus Group. OK, as you can see here, RIM as a group started with the main point of the study. Of course. Buy me a Rusaki 2021. They explain how robotic cars could use Android apps to detect obstacles. This is really useful for spotting dangers in military areas. OK, also they mention as you can see here. That these cars could help find the threats in war zones like explosives or tourists. It is very important because it shows a practical use of the technology. OK. Then. As you can see here, they jump into the technical stuff. How do you make this robot work? Well, it starts with a Bluetooth controller and an app that tells the car what to do. Go to the students. So imagine using your phone to control a car that can move on its own, detect things around it and even avoid them. That's what they are talking about. Here, in the end, Ramos group concluded with why this study matters. They said this smart card could be game changers for military operations, of course, making things safer and more efficient. So what did they do Right? They clearly stated that studies main idea, detailed how it works, and explained why it's important. It is symbol yet. Powerful. So now let's compare. OK. Let's compare both groups. Clarity and Structure Norse Group provides a clear and structured summary of my study. The outlines the study goals, the systems design and components and offer suggestions for improvement with a steady citation style. While Remus Group also clear their review examines into the application of robotic cars and military settings they described the implementation of. Courses and highlights, the importance of of obstacles, avoidance. OK, use of citation. Actually both reviews like excite me, but Nahas work sites after each major point, while Remus work includes a general citation. OK. So to conclude with. Like both Nahar and Rima have written effective literature reviews, but their strength lie in different areas and the Hearts review is more detailed in describing that the the technical stuff while RIM is shines in relating the study to broader applications. The choice of which is better depends on the specific focus and requirements of the assignment. OK, so for a technology focused. View the hours would be briefer table but for a review underscoring practical application and implication remains approach might be more suited. So students thank you very much. Hope this will help you. Thank you.To view or add a comment, sign in
