Our speech is the most powerful instrument we possess.. Yet, far too often, people find themselves struggling to be heard, their words falling on deaf ears. Connection: Eye contact fosters intimacy, suggesting a strong bond or understanding between individuals. 3. Honesty: Eyes can be a window to truth, conveying sincerity or vulnerability that words might hide. 4. Mystery: Sometimes, eyes hold secrets or unspoken thoughts, inviting curiosity and intrigue. 5. Communication: Non-verbal cues in her eyes can convey messages, intentions, or reactions that enhance verbal conversations.

I've learned that mastering the art of silence is just as important as mastering the art of communication. It's about being mindful of the timing and impact of our words. I've found that using the 'WAIT' formula can be helpful in deciding when to speak up or remain silent: W-Will my words improve the situation? A-Am I speaking from a place of love and kindness? I- Is it the right time to speak up? T-Will my words be received with an open heart? By pausing to reflect on these questions, we can avoid speaking out of impulse or emotion and instead choose to communicate with intention and wisdom. Remember, silence can be a powerful tool for building trust, diffusing tension, and showing respect.

Before You Speak, Ask Yourself Three Questions... In today’s fast-moving world, it’s easy to let words fly without much thought. Recently, I’ve been reflecting on a quote by the Persian poet Rumi, whose wisdom has transcended centuries and cultures: "Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?" This resonates with me as I navigate communication in both my personal and professional life. Coming from a culture where sarcasm can be a natural part of humor and dialogue, I’ve found that not every situation or conversation calls for it. While I sometimes use sarcasm to lighten the mood or make a point, I’ve also learned that it doesn’t always pass the gate of kindness—or clarity. And then there's silence. I admit, I don’t always enjoy those awkward, unfilled pauses, and sometimes I’m quick to fill them. Yet, when reflecting on Scandinavian values, where silence is often seen as meaningful and not uncomfortable, I’m reminded of the importance of thoughtful communication. Silence can allow for reflection, making our words more intentional and less reactive. For me, it’s a balancing act—knowing when to be direct, when humor fits, and when to let silence do the talking. I’m challenging myself to think more deeply about this balance. How often do we pass through these three gates before speaking? ⭐️ SILENCE IS GOLDEN ⭐️ Or is it? For some people maybe, but for others not so much. When we observe people either in a personal or business environment you can often notice most people are uncomfortable with silence. There seems to be an underlying pressure for the space of silence to be filled. A responsibility for creating some sort of response, especially for those who have a strong desire for immediate answers or solutions. Is it a cultural trait? Are we not taught that the whole point of being with other people is to make conversation? We live in a world full of 'noise' and silence can be scary because it's unfamiliar, and it can bring to the fore a lot of thoughts and emotions that noise keeps at bay. Most people think of silence as something that needs to be quickly covered up so it doesn't lead to awkwardness. However, silence can be a highly effective communication tool. When we communicate we are expressing ourselves - verbally and non-verbally. Sometimes silence does a better job at conveying a message than words can. SAY LESS THAN YOU ALREADY KNOW 🗑️ If I had kept my mouth shut 🤐. The trouble a person finds is often in their words. Saying less than you know can be the key to avoiding trouble. Our words shape how others perceive us and the situations we face. Imagine the impact of changing what you say about your challenges or opportunities. Let's make it a habit to ask for positive words and know when to stop speaking. Let your mind guide your speech, focusing on speaking positively and motivating others. Kind words are powerful, shaping not only others but also our own souls. Be mindful of what you say daily; it defines who you are. Avoid negative, complaining words. Instead, be known for positivity and encouragement. Remember, the power of life and death lies in the tongue. Your internal dialogue matters too; your self-talk can be your most trusted friend. Is Silence really Golden????? "Silence is golden" This is a phrase which is often recommended as the wisest course of action in various scenarios. It stems from an ancient proverb which says Speech is silver but silence is golden. In other words being quiet even though harder is preferably the right course of action. No doubt Silence is a powerful tool of communication especially when 1. Our words can be hurtful and do more harm than good. 2. Listening is what is needed to understand, to be empathetic or to know more about a situation 3. We have nothing to say to add value to a conversation 4. Especially when we are overwhelmed with a negative emotion of anger or rage BUT "Speaking up" may be the toughest albeit the most important thing you may have to do, that could be more precious under certain circumstances. Speak up when 1. You know the truth and are  witnessing a false narrative being set. The easier option here would be to conform to the more powerful narrative and not antagonise the decision makers. But becoming a voice for the voiceless or truthfully defending someone who is unaware of the narrative being set is probably the kindest gesture that one can do. 2. You can be a change agent. When your words can be the mirror that everyone needs to see and realise that collectively we are going down the wrong path. If you have an opportunity to be voice of the collective consciousness, be that one, even if you are the lone voice 3.Your opinion is sought The reason your opinion is actively sought is because your judgement is trusted and your comment can help someone make an informed choice. Silence is definitely golden but knowing when to speak, how to speak and speaking up for the voiceless, bullied, underrepresented would be the most invaluable act we could ever do for someone. #musingsofanignitedmind #speakup #artofcommunication

Mind your language, bad words hurt 5. Pay attention to the Tone of your speech 6. Avoid being Judgemental 7. Keep an open mind, you might be wrong 8. Be prepared to apologies or to forgive 9.
