The AI doctor will see you....eventually I was reading the article by The Economist (March 2024) - "The AI doctor will see you....eventually" discusses the potential and challenges of using artificial intelligence in healthcare. It highlights that while AI holds great promise for improving health outcomes and efficiency, there are significant barriers to its widespread adoption. These include technical challenges, data privacy concerns, and the need for regulatory frameworks. The article suggests that despite these hurdles, the benefits of integrating AI into healthcare are so substantial that efforts to overcome them are well justified. Having undergoing lotsa medical tests on myself recently, I can see why there is a need for AI Doctor, as the queue can be very long and wait can be unbearable for those who are in need. But at the same time, you don't want to rush into a diagnosis just to save time especially if it can be a matter of life and death. I will still prefer a human being sitting me down to break the bad news to me, give me the options, explain the pros and cons of each procedures. That may not be something AI will take over anytime, as I believe patient care is not a matter of black or white, automated or not. But the potential for AI Doctor is definitely there for the medical world, just not now for me especially if my heart is of concern. https://lnkd.in/g466UYWC

We are grateful for 8 years of invaluable insights at the NAIRO Symposium. Our biggest takeaways this year: 1. AI was a major topic of discussion. It is clear that the claims industry is moving in that direction. Multiple states + the federal government have passed rules regarding the use of AI with respect to clinical decision making and determinations for clinical review.
