Burns First Aid Giving immediate first aid can help to decrease the severity of a burn Thank you to our colleagues at Surgeons for Little Lives for their educational video! 1. Don't cover the burn with ointment butter milk or home remedies as they can make the burn worse 2. Do not tear off any clothing stuck to a burn but remove clothing around burn. Keep the child warm e.g. in a blanket while treating the burn. 3. Run cool tap water over the burn for 20 minutes (if no tap, use a bucket or jug). Do not use ice or iced water. 4. If a blister forms, do not break it open. 5.Dry sterile gauze or Burnshield® dressing may be applied to protect the burnt area once it has been cooled whilst seeking help 6. Make your way to the paediatrician or hospital for any burns that blister, burns on sensitive areas of the body (hand, feet, face, eye, groin) or those that cover an area larger than the child’s hand should always be attended to by immediately. Disclaimer: this post is not intended to provide medical advice. Advice on treatment or care of an individual patient should be obtained through consultation with a doctor or other health professional that has examined the patient and is familiar with the patient's medical history. #drgrahamjones #paediatrics #burns #treatment #SurgeonsforLittleLives

💡 Sudden Cardiac Arrest: First Aid Part II 🌟 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) - These AED steps should be used when caring for a non-breathing child aged 8 or older who weighs more than 55 pounds or an adult. - After checking the scene and ensuring that the person needs help, you should ask a bystander to call 911 for help, then: 1. Complete the CHECK and CALL steps. 2. As soon as an AED is available, turn it on and follow the voice prompts. 3. Remove clothing and attach pads correctly. a. Remove all clothing covering the chest. If necessary, wipe the chest dry and shave the chest if you have to (AEDs usually come with shavers). Make sure to not use an AED when near water, metal, or gases. b. Place one pad on the upper right side of the chest. c. Place the other pad on the lower left side of the chest, a few inches below the left armpit. Note: If the pads may touch, place one pad in the middle of the chest and the other pad on the back, between the shoulder blades. 4. Plug the pad connector cable into the AED, if necessary. 5. Prepare to let the AED analyse the heart’s rhythm. a. Make sure no one is touching the person. b. Say, “CLEAR!” in a loud, commanding voice. 6. Deliver a shock, if the AED determines one is needed. a. Make sure no one is touching the person. b. Say, “CLEAR!” in a loud, commanding voice. c. Push the “shock” button to deliver the shock. 7. After the AED delivers the shock, or if no shock is advised, immediately start CPR, beginning with compressions. Note: Both an AED and CPR are crucial to keep a person alive. If you can’t find an AED, administer CPR until help or an AED arrives. If you want more posts like this, please do like, follow, and share, as well as comment with your honest thoughts! 🌾 Leliani's qualified caregivers play a crucial role in caring for the elderly, patients with chronic diseases, and people with special needs. Their support has a multifaceted positive impact on the well-being of both patients and their families. Our caregivers specialize in meeting the daily needs of nursing home residents, providing the following services: ✔️ Maintaining personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, dental care, etc.); ✔️ Assisting with meals and food preparation, especially if the patient has dietary restrictions; ✔️ Ensuring timely medication intake, which is essential for managing health conditions; ✔️ Assisting with mobility, including helping residents move, such as transferring from a wheelchair to a bed; ✔️ Maintaining a daily routine and managing the patient's time, which promotes stability and psychological comfort. In addition to first aid skills, Leliani's caregivers play a vital role in maintaining the psychological well-being of patients. They provide: ✔️ Social and emotional support, which is crucial for preventing loneliness and isolation; ✔️ Active listening and communication, helping patients express their feelings and opinions, which in turn reduces stress and anxiety. A qualified caregiver uses a compassionate approach and creates a comfortable, safe, and caring environment that improves the patient's health and quality of life. 💚 Families find greater peace of mind knowing that their loved one is in the hands of a reliable caregiver.

Imagine a world where burn survivors receive quality care. By investing in burn nurse education, we make this vision a reality. When burn nurses are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills, they can deliver more effective treatments and reduce complications. Back in November, Physicians for Peace provided comprehensive burn nurse training in the Dominican Republic where our dedicated volunteer trainers shared their expertise and knowledge. The positive impact of this training was showcased at the ISBI Congress, where nurse Carolyn Ramwell, our volunteer expert, presented the results. #ChildrenAreNotSmallAdults ! Our little marvels are learning at a huge rate and are developing all those neural pathways... ❗their immature brain cannot yet work out if they are too hot or too cold - temperature regulation is a thing that is learned! ❗they are unable to communicate at birth and it takes time for them to gain enough language to express what is wrong, and where it hurts ❗younger children are often unable to accurately identify where exactly the pain is coming from This means that we need to know #firstaid skills appropriate to our mini marvels! I've got just what you NEED: ✅ a virtual, do anytime course for Parents - learn at your own pace ✅ understand how to work out if you're dealing with 'Big Sick' (we need urgent medical help) or 'Little Sick' (you've got this with the simple first aid actions I'll teach you) ✅ bit sized sections - everything has been broken down into smaller time chunks just for you. Closed captions on videos enable you to watch in silence if you need to. ✅largely video based - lots of easy to watch demos by me, a First Aid Expert and former paediatric physiotherapist ✅For just £30 learn how to provide essential life-saving first aid ✅You have 3 years access even if you complete the course in one sitting! This is THE perfect course for: - parents - grandparents - your babysitter - anyone working in the community who'd value learning first aid - an amazingly thoughtful #maternity or #paternity gift You can view the course contents and enrol at https://lnkd.in/dADBbeD #firstaidforparents #bigsicklittlesick #essentialknowledge #savealife
