Members of Congress have warned the International Criminal Court that they will retaliate if arrest warrants are issued against Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials. Speaker Mike Johnson: "If unchallenged by the Biden administration, the ICC could create and assume unprecedented power to issue arrest warrants against American political leaders, American diplomats, and American military personnel, thereby endangering our country's sovereign authority." Members of Congress from both parties are reportedly preparing legislation to sanction ICC officials unless they back down. Can the International Criminal Court be sanctioned by any country? This methodology makes perfect sense taking in consideration the type of infrastructure constraints associated with Afghanistan (i.e., roads & traffic management devices). The main thing is that action is being taken to maintain law and order.

-The idea of #usa sanctioning #ICC to save #netanyahu is a clear sign of an overconfident superpower, assuming itself to be above all laws in the world, acting as bully and showing clearcut signs of its future decline. -#China and #Russia will be quick to label USA as biggest supporter of genocide and all moral credibility of US (if any left?) will soon vanish. -Imagine if #China declares South China Sea as its inland water and sanctions all organisations speaking against it, declares it ADIZ, USA will have no moral authority to criticise/act against it. #joebiden administration has brought #China, #Russia, #NorthKorea #Iran closer than ever without a sound strategy, leaving itself inadequate to deal with such strong opposition. The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has issued arrest warrants for former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and current military Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. These charges are related to alleged crimes during Russia's invasion of Ukraine, particularly for their roles in directing missile strikes against Ukraine's electric infrastructure from October 10, 2022, to March 9, 2023. The court believes there are reasonable grounds to hold Shoigu and Gerasimov responsible for these actions, categorizing them as war crimes and crimes against humanity due to the targeting of civilians and civilian objects. These charges add to the broader context of ICC actions against Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, who is already facing an ICC arrest warrant for the alleged forced relocation of Ukrainian children to Russia. Despite these charges, Russia, not being a full signatory to the ICC, typically does not extradite its citizens, raising doubts about whether Shoigu and Gerasimov will ever stand trial. Shoigu, who was recently dismissed from his role and reassigned to Russia's security council, and Gerasimov were among Putin's most senior defence officials, highlighting the high-level nature of these accusations. Russian military personnel are selling #Ukrainian prisoners of war on the "black market" to Chechen militarized groups, who subsequently conduct their own exchanges of captives with Ukraine, according to a report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). The agency refers to information from the #British daily national newspaper The Times, according to which #Ukrainian spokesman Petro Yatsenko of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported that Chechen paramilitary groups are buying #Ukrainian prisoners of war from other Russian military units on the "black market" for further trade. Later, they use Ukrainian captives for exchange with the Chechens held by the Armed Forces. The Times stated that these units likely resort to the "black market" because Chechens currently perform mainly police or logistical functions in the rear areas of Ukraine, where there are fewer opportunities to capture Ukrainian prisoners of war and exchange them for Chechens. The source notes that although the #Geneva Conventions do not have articles explicitly prohibiting the trade of prisoners of war, this practice likely violates provisions stating that "no special agreement shall adversely affect the situation of prisoners of war." "Reports of Chechen units apparently conducting their own POW exchanges with Ukraine suggest that some paramilitary units within the Russian military, like the Chechen Akhmat Spetsnaz units, are likely not included in wider, higher-level Russian-Ukrainian POW exchanges. Russian milbloggers have repeatedly criticized Chechen forces for their incompetence and lack of involvement in Ukraine, and Chechen forces have been relegated to rear areas or less active sectors of the front after participating in major Russian offensive operations in 2022," the ISW report states. Prisoner exchange The latest prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine took place on February 8. One hundred Ukrainians were returned to their homeland.
