As educators, parents, and policymakers, we are increasingly aware that a student's well-being is as crucial as their academic performance. Mental health is not just an adjunct to education; it is a foundational pillar that supports students' ability to learn, grow, and thrive. what's the impact mental health in the academic performance of a student? Mental health profoundly influences a student's academic journey. When students are struggling with issues like anxiety, depression, or stress, their ability to concentrate, retain information, and engage in classroom activities diminishes. This can lead to declining grades, absenteeism, and a disconnection from the learning process. Addressing mental health concerns helps create an environment where students are more focused, motivated, and capable of achieving their academic goals. Mental health allows development and mental wellbeing of student. Beyond academics, mental health plays a vital role in the overall development of students. Schools are not just places for intellectual growth; they are also social environments where students develop critical life skills such as emotional regulation, resilience, and interpersonal relationships. A positive mental health environment enables students to build self-esteem, navigate challenges effectively, and foster meaningful connections with peers and educators. Therefore, the impact of a Guidiance Counsellor cannot be overemphasised in making students get their mental health In other for them to achieve their academic goals. Guidance counsellors, in particular, are essential in this landscape. They provide a safe space for students to express their concerns, offer coping strategies, and connect students with additional resources if needed. By integrating mental health support into the educational framework, counsellors help students balance their academic responsibilities with their emotional needs, leading to a more holistic approach to education. conclusively, the growing awareness of mental health's importance in education is a positive development that benefits students academically and personally. By addressing mental health proactively, we can help students not only succeed in their studies but also equip them with the tools they need to lead fulfilling, balanced lives.
