Elections bring about change. They are also an opportune time for the losing side to make changes they've been waiting to make over longer periods of time. U.S. House Democrats have been led for a long time by a core of individuals who may be being pushed away after the latest loss. Other long-time Democrats may be challenged in the 2026 campaign. With the losses of Ruth Bader-Ginsburg in the Supreme Court and Diane Feinstein in the U.S. Seante, there may be a stronger push for generational change as well. The losses of Bob Casey, John Tester, and Sherrod Brown also offer new opportunities in Pennsylvania, Montana, and Ohio for political novices and political advancements. #politics #politicalcampaigns #politicalreassment #senioritysystem #urgeforchange #politicaltransitions #pademocrats #mtdemocrats #ohdemocrats https://lnkd.in/eiSMSVRr

The state of democracy, upcoming elections, the economy and political discord are just a few of the many issues that are top of mind among Americans today. Yet, as history reminds us, these same challenges have confronted the country since its founding. Looking to history can help inform leaders, communities, and citizens on how to navigate times of upheaval with greater confidence and even optimism. Andrew Roberts (Baron Roberts of Belgravia), distinguished author, scholar and 2016 Bradley Prize Winner discusses how to apply the important lessons of history to today’s challenges on the latest episode of Voices of Freedom.

In DC, the Democratic Party just lost a lawsuit to prevent our citizens' initiative (Petition 83) from moving forward. In "red states" the Republican Party opposes our ballot campaigns, and in "purple states" BOTH parties oppose us! Makes you wonder ... Do the parties really represent "we the people," or only the party elite, the party base, party insiders and the politics industry? Join us, today, and help make voter-first reforms a reality!
Check out the 90-second video below. Our DC leader Lisa D. T. Rice does a great job of explaining how primary #elections are taxpayer-funded. So, it doesn't make any sense for private political parties to prevent independent #voters from voting. Lisa is a fellow, party-neutral reform warrior, and the the lead Proposer for the "Make All Votes Count DC" ballot campaign in DC -- Petition 83 -- for open primary elections and ranked-choice voting. Great work, Lisa -- Onward!

A recent article in the New Yorker pointed out a persistent, confounding aspect of liberalism: liberals themselves have trouble explaining what it is and consequently find it difficult to defend. Despite this ambiguity of definition, it’s hard to avoid proclamations that liberalism is in crisis. While not making any promises to simplify the subject, we present three NBN podcasts that help make sense of the crisis of liberalism. https://lnkd.in/gdabZK2G

We are so proud to say On the Ballot just released its 100th (!!) episode! To celebrate this milestone, Ballotpedia founder and CEO Leslie Graves joined the podcast to discuss how Ballotpedia can help young, prospective voters get informed and empowered when they head to vote. Leslie discusses weeding through the abundance of news online, how to identify reliable political information, and shares some personal stories about her first time voting. Voting for the first time can be daunting, but it is so worth it. As Leslie says in the episode, "You have a bigger life if you vote than if you don't. It's not just that you're fulfilling your civic duty. It's that you're making your life, as you learn to do this, more interesting, bigger, and more significant." #BasicIncome. As we witness the most influential of over 50 global 2024 elections taking place this week, I am reminded of the fact Green Party of England and Wales are the only party that have long advocated for a basic income for all. I share a conversation that I had with leading UBI advocate Scott Santens 6 years ago. 👇🏼 It is the same party that has long advocated for a wealth tax on unearned income for especially the super-rich. It is the same party that puts equality, anti racism, and community at its core. It is the same party that has long called for a ceasefire in Gaza and a halting of arms supplies. It is the same party that has, from pure grassroots with no lobbyist corporate interests, grown to over 800 councillors and now 4 MPs in the UK Parliament. Western politics all suffers under the weight of imperialism, capitalism, and hegemony, however there is one party that is trying to imagine and take action towards more just futures. We can look beyond #fear, division, and binary thinking if we choose. It’s not always easy, but we can. Shall we? Will you help #GetGreensElected? Can you spare some energy and time to help us win the #Swanscombe and #Greenhithe Kent County by-election and #Greenhithe and #Knockhall district by-elections taking place on Nov 21st 2024? Promoted by Mark Lindop on behalf of Dartford Green Party, both at Old Downs, Hartley, DA3 7AA
