Another great day enlightening students on the breadth of opportunities in local government. A couple highlights: 🛠️ A student wanting to stay in a hands-on field, now looking at opportunities such as our HRA & Building Control (they didn’t see the initial link to local gov from plumbing) 🪄 Dispelling a lot of myths … overhearing a comment about council tax turned into a productive conversation, with the student now looking to make contact about work experience 🫨 Students feeling the prospect of a degree apprenticeship was out of their reach, but using some of our case studies we were able to show how others had achieved this - and the invaluable experience of apprenticeships … & productive conversations with other stallholders on their talent and careers programmes!

Today, on Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for a more just and equitable society. As we reflect on the past, let's also look towards the future and how we can create opportunities for all. At Project Hire-Ed, we're committed to promoting diversity and equity in the workforce, and that includes our apprenticeship programs. The importance of these efforts cannot be overstated. With a 92% employment retention rate post-program completion, apprenticeships offer a powerful pathway to long-term success.
