Gratitude is often talked about in the context of personal life—being thankful for family, health, or the little moments that bring us joy. But gratitude doesn’t stop there. In fact, it’s just as powerful in business as it is in our personal lives. In the workplace, gratitude builds stronger connections. When leaders genuinely thank their teams, it boosts morale, trust, and engagement. When coworkers show appreciation for each other, it fosters collaboration and a sense of belonging. Gratitude isn’t just a feel-good practice, it creates a culture where people want to do their best because they feel seen and valued. Gratitude also shifts perspective. It’s easy to focus on problems or what isn’t working. But when we intentionally focus on what’s going well, we create a mindset of possibility. In business, that outlook can drive innovation, strengthen relationships, and help teams navigate challenges with resilience. Whether it’s thanking a colleague for their support, showing appreciation to your customers, or taking a moment to reflect on what your team has accomplished, gratitude is a simple act with profound impact. When was the last time you thanked someone before they took on a tough task? Gratitude is a powerful tool, but timing matters. Research shows that expressing thanks before employees dive into challenging work can significantly bolster their resilience and sense of purpose. Appreciation helps counteract some of the negative emotions associated with the task. In our 29 years of leading teams, I've learned that these moments of proactive appreciation are investments in trust and morale. Whether they are leading a hiring sprint, navigating change, or tackling a high-pressure project, a simple, genuine "thank you for stepping up" can make all the difference. It’s important teams see their value—before they even begin. ✨ https://lnkd.in/ebpCw324 #Kudos #Gratitude

💚 Expressing Gratitude in the Workplace: A Ripple Effect of Positivity Did you know that witnessing expressions of gratitude can uplift everyone in the room? According to insights from the Greater Good Science Center webinar, How Gratitude Changes the Brain (November 21, 2024), gratitude doesn't just impact the recipient; it boosts those who observe it! Here are some simple ways to bring gratitude into your workplace: ◻️ Say "thank you" to a colleague you work with daily. ◻️ In meetings, take a moment to ask what people are grateful for. ◻️ Engage in an Appreciative Circle: have team members share why they appreciate the person beside them (can be done in person or virtually) ◻️ As a leader, make it a habit to express sincere appreciation to your team regularly. ◻️ Send a short, heartfelt message: "I'm grateful for (…) because (…)". ◻️ Don't forget to thank your leaders, too — everyone appreciates acknowledgment! The key to giving sincere appreciation? Be authentic and specific about the qualities and the positive impact the person brings. 💚 As we navigate flu season in North America, why not spread some positive social contagion — let's share appreciation in the workplace, at home, and throughout our communities! 🟩 The webinar recording will be available this week (November 25, 2024). I highly recommend it; there are many more nuggets, including "Perceived Responsiveness", the secret sauce : https://lnkd.in/e3zHDXJZ Source of image: https://lnkd.in/e55ut-Ga #Gratitude #WorkplaceWellbeing #Leadership #PositiveCulture #EmployeeEngagement #GratefulLeadership #AppreciationMatters #SpreadPositivity #LeadershipDevelopment
