As I come to the last chapters in the book #ThinkBeforeItIsTooLate by Edward #deBono, I couldn’t help but reflect on the #studies perceived by such a #creative mind as Edward. In these chapters, he tackles many topics, all reflective of thinking processes we have come to engage in. He discusses how #arguments could be demolished and suggests that a better technique would be using the "#SixThinkingHats." He focuses on the idea of #LateralThinking and the importance of improving something before it becomes a problem. He reflects on the studies of the #GG3 – the gang of three, Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle – and the "excellent" process of thinking delivered by them. He suggests that, even now, we are still stuck in this mode of thinking, believing that "excellent" isn’t enough. He also argues that #perception is better than logic. While logic is valuable, things have many perspectives, and he shares a live example that we should always keep in mind: “A five-year-old boy called Johnny was offered a choice by his friends between a one-dollar coin and a two-dollar coin. The one-dollar coin was much bigger than the two-dollar coin. Johnny took the bigger coin. His friends laughed and giggled at Johnny’s stupidity. Whenever they wanted to make a fool of Johnny, they would offer him the same choice. He never learned and always chose the larger coin. One day, an adult saw this and felt sorry for Johnny. He called Johnny over and told him that the smaller coin, even though smaller, was actually worth twice as much as the bigger coin. Johnny smiled, thanked him politely, and then said: ‘I know that. But how many more times would they have offered me the coins if I had chosen the two dollars the first time?’” And the question becomes: How well do you use #perception? "Think Before It Is Too Late" is a must-read.

VOYAGERS, a Science Fiction move you can stream, is a fun romp a bit like Lord of the Flies in space. (Warning - some adult expresssions) but I fouond it an interesting analogy for the evolution and use of Emotional Intelligence. At first the voyagers emotions are repressed by a blue drink that keeps them in line. Consider our social beliefs about emotions - how we need to suppress, control, and be devoid of them to succeed. In the next stage of the movie characters realize the fears we have in learning Emotional Intelligence and opening to our feelings and emotions. All havoc breaks out when the voyagers stop drinking the blue drink.
