What makes a company truly great to work with? Is it just about skills and results—or could it be something more? Let me challenge your thinking: Look for a team that genuinely enjoys working together, that knows how to work hard and have fun. At Blue Compass, we believe in that balance. Every year, we break into smaller teams to compete, collaborate, and just have fun together during our Blue Circle Games—an afternoon filled with food, drinks, and activities that test our problem-solving, teamwork, and even our competitive edge. Last Friday’s event was no exception. I had the honor of inviting some friends and old colleagues to help out, and they all walked away with the same impression: our team is connected, collaborative, and truly enjoys one another’s company. It's something you can feel, whether it’s in a game or at work. Great weather, great competition, great teamwork—and most of all, great relationships. When choosing a partner or vendor, don’t overlook the value of a team that loves working together. That’s what makes a company stand out. What do you value most in a team you partner with? https://lnkd.in/gQMbDrDr

When we look at the efficiency with which plans and programs are designed and resources allocated, we find there’s room for a few quirks. In this companion chart to my new book, Main Street Mavericks, the different types of local businesses are classified in different categories according to how they have achieved a good product-market fit, the effectiveness of their value proposition and the “compound awesomeness” of their brand, operations, service delivery and design. The different types of businesses can be catered almost individually by tailored programs that include mentoring for cross pollination, and capacity building to become experiential, in the case of the top tiers. Had an incredibly blessed time with my Incloud colleagues yesterday! 🌟 Spending quality time with the team outside our usual work environment is truly special. We shared some laughs, did our best to avoid getting drenched by the rain, and enjoyed some well-deserved downtime together. These experiences deepen our connection and reignite our passion for what we do 💙 #incloud #incloudbusinesssolutions #Salesforce #SalesforceCRM #SalesforceAdmin #SalesforceDevelopment #SalesforceConsulting #SalesforceExperts #SalesforceCommunity #SalesforceImplementation #SalesforceSolutions #SalesforceMarketingCloud #SalesforceTrailblazer #SalesforceSuccess #SalesforceTraining #SalesforceIntegration #SalesforceInnovation
Had a great time with our Inclouders yesterday! There’s nothing like spending quality time with the team outside of our usual work environment. Julie always brings networking events to life afterwards and perfectly captures the moments. Networking for me was never something I embraced until this year. My first group I joined was ConnectED in Edinburgh, hosted by Sandy Cullen. It is a warm, welcoming group of people with an opportunity to chat and share your business in a relaxed way. I love hearing about everyone else's business and their passion for what they do. Networking has given me a much needed social side to my business that was lacking, working on my own at a desk can be isolating and sometimes a bit too easy to do. Meeting other solo entrepreneurs is inspiring and makes me feel less alone. I always gain a pearl of wisdom. Today I spoke with Julie 🎬 Neilson and Saul Garrett about videos for social media and both gave me some great advice about how to tackle scheduling video posts. I wanted to attend Julie's workshop on the 17th of June but the date doesn't work. The next one I am definitely attending. Presenting to audiences in person is different to presenting on social media and Julie's course would be invaluable for me. Look into it if you are wanting to explore videos on social media. The event is early, 8:30am and I ate an early breakfast so after the event I went for a coffee to reflect on the morning. I was hungry but I chose not to have a cake, I did think about a scone, they looked good but then decided I did not need it as lunch was waiting for me when I returned home. Many people would have said: just have the scone but I had no need for it, I enjoyed the coffee and my lunch was going to be soon. I am able to do this because I eat protein and fat with carbohydrates and I don't rely on sugar for energy, appetite, reward or making me feel better. If you struggle with saying no to the cake download my free ebook on my web site to battle the sugar habits. https://lnkd.in/eHt4xehw, scroll down the home page to find it. Are you new to networking? Do you have an approach that works best? Do you struggle with saying no to the cake?
🎬 Getting ConnectED! 🎬 🎬 Shhh, don't tell anyone but I'm not really an early morning person! (Although that's finally changing a bit after years of getting the kids up for school!) 🎬 But there's always a warm welcome from Sandy Cullen at ConnectED on Tuesday mornings! 🎬 Big thanks to Alice Nisbet for sharing her pre-holiday checklist, which looks very helpful! 🎬 And it was lovely to meet and chat with Saul Garrett Natasha Alonzi Jenny Robson and Tracyann Kneen 🎬 Looking forward to the next one! 🎬 So, are you a morning or an evening person?! Copywriting is one of the skills required to sell your products and services. But potential customers out there are tired of the word 'buy'. Once they sense that you're marketing to them, they click away. One strategy that has always worked and will continue is 'Contrarian email'. This is an email that comes with a contrary belief or opinion. The headline alone being contrary to their opinion will attract them to open the email. So, the next time you're crafting an email, think of a contrarian email. What's your take on this email crafting hint?

This video shows exactly why I recruit for Five Below.
Founders Day (or week) is all about celebrating and recognizing our crew for their hardwork. We truly live our purpose and values everyday, but this event we Let Go & Have Fun just a little bit more! Huge shoutout to my team, the committee and vendors for helping me plan and execute such an amazing experience.

I’m finishing my 4th week at CodeSignal and it’s been a whirlwind of new people, ideas, and culture. I’m traveling home from my first onsite with them and I’d like to reflect a bit on what brought me here. Back in 2013, web development was seeing a bit of a revolution as we moved from static, back-end, technologies to heavy front-end focused “Single Page Applications” (SPAs). My good friend Dennis Burton and I were doing a lot with these budding technologies and trying to figure out a fun and exciting way to teach the concept to others. We came up with a full-day CodeMash Conference workshop (hundreds of learners) with an accompanying application called Choose Your Own Application. It took inspiration from the well-loved childhood book series to let the learner make choices as they built a full-blown application. The learner was given the opportunity to choose their frontend framework (Backbone or Knockout… it was 2013), their language (JavaScript or CoffeeScript… see 2013), their backend framework (Node.js, Rails, or ASP.NET), and their deployment platform (Heroku or Azure). There were dozens of permutations. It was a LOT of content. A LOT to test. The experience was VERY well received. I was so honored and humbled by the number of people who learned that day. After it was done, we asked: can we scale this to other content paths? We laughed it off and said “nah, that was fun but it would be too much work”. If you know me, I get my energy from helping other people learn things. That’s why I joined Khan Academy and stayed with them for 8 years. Ultimately, it’s what led me to take the Director of Content and Content Platform at CodeSignal. Although it’s not _exactly_ the same thing, I’m a part of a team now that is scaling the ideas behind Choose Your Own Application. CodeSignal Learn (https://lnkd.in/gXHuMEKQ) is the most innovative technical learning platform I’ve seen yet. We’re developing content at a VERY fast pace and we will for a very long time. Unlike static video or blog-base learning, we have a PRACTICE-based platform with an AI teacher/tutor named Cosmo (a space corgi!). It’s all about mastery-based learning inside the browser IDE and Cosmo guiding you the entire way. The entire experience is in a single place. I have only been here 4 weeks and I’m already extremely proud of what we’re building. Watch this space. We have some amazing content coming your way.
We had a great time this week in Denver, CO! ✨ The week was filled with insightful sessions, thought-provoking discussions, and amazing cross-team collaboration 🎉 We're looking forward to what's next!
