The Digital Marketing Union’s Post

Have you ever felt like working alone was harder than the work itself? Three months ago, I launched my business and I’ve been working solo—and while I love the freedom, I’ve experienced loneliness. It slowly creeps in and it drains my energy, especially as an extroverted person. Yet, I think I found a new way to cope. Yesterday, I joined an event hosted by Cowork Crew, a community of freelancers and solo-preneurs who’ve stepped away from corporate life to create their own paths. What struck me was how this group brought back the best parts of the corporate world—the camaraderie and shared experiences—without the office politics 🤧. So, here’s my takeaway of the day: entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be isolating. It makes all the difference once you put yourself out there and create your support system through joining: co-working spaces, networking events, or even Slack groups! A big thank you to my new Cowork Crew buddies: Penni Pickering Jo Pickering Michael John Oliver Emma Forward Simon Elliott Jason Morton Sofia Wood Anaïs Comot Tom Garfield Angela Lyons 💬 Let me know if you have ever felt isolated in your solo-journey and how have you dealt with it, I'll appreciate any advice. 😊 #Entrepreneurship #Freelancing #Community #Networking P.S. If you need help streamlining your marketing processes, please check out my website, which I've linked in the comments.

Thanks so much for coming Oliver. It was really nice getting to know you. My biggest fear was being lonely. I'd come from a business of 500 people. You couldn't find a quiet spot. Then to be all alone...it was a shock for sure. But being lonely was never a problem. I quickly got involved, as you have, and found a massive community of wonderful people. There are so many. You've already found Cowork Crew. Woohoo. Have a look at Being Freelance and Freelancer Magazine. Hundreds of wonderful self-employed people are waiting for you there. Also for a more digital marketing focus, check out The Digital Marketing Union - What you do fits perfectly. Dan White runs it. He's the best human there is. Don't be afraid to get stuck in. Everyone's very aware of the new to the gang feeling, and we all make sure we're the people we would have wanted to have around us when we started. Yeahhhhhhh.

🙌 Whoop whoop Oliver, it was fantastic to meet you yesterday and I very much resonate with everything you shared here - especially the picture of the cakes 😅* I shall see you on the other side in 2025 and until then: have a fabulous festive season! * And yes, that's also my answer to your question on how I've dealt with entrepreneurship so far ;)

I have all the warm fuzzies reading this Oliver! There's so many joys to self employment, and equally there are it's own lows to contend with. I'm properly grinning to know that Cowork Crew has helped. That is exactly why it exists 🥰

Completely agree. It was terrific to have such friendly company, great to see International Magazine Centre buddies Angela Lyons and Phil Clark - Publishing Consultant, Trainer and Mentor and the wifi was superfast… did I mention the wifi? I’m being weird about the wifi right?😂
