You’ve also deleted, marked as spam and unsubscribed from those emails because they didn't live up the promise they made; either in the hook that got you to initially sign up, or from the subject line that got you to open the email. So how do you stop people from hitting that dreaded unsubscribe button? Well, the honest answer is you can’t, but you can disincentivize them from ignoring you, by giving them what they crave from you. Every email that you send should be personalized for the segment you're targeting. The email the individual receives should always give them something. Even the email that's asking for the sale should be making and delivering on a promise. The framework that I like to use is Story > Lesson > Convert > Repeat. The story you share, the lesson you provide, and sales pitch should all be personalized to your segment. This framework focuses on providing a story that resonates with the segment, a lesson that teaches the audience something they didn't know before, and a sales pitch that encourages them to take action. By personalizing the story, lesson, and sales pitch to the segment, it ensures that it is tailored to their interests and needs.
