"Are you aware of the minimum distribution requirements for your Private Ancillary Fund (PAF)?" Each year, a PAF must distribute at least 5% of its net assets to eligible Deductible Gift Recipients (DGRs), or a minimum of $11,000 if 5% of the assets fall below this threshold. However, no distributions are required during the PAF's first year of operation. PAFs can only distribute to DGR Item 1 entities, such as public benevolent institutions, educational bodies, or cultural organisations - ensuring donations go towards impactful causes that align with community needs.   Ensure your PAF meets its distribution obligations while supporting meaningful change. Thoughts on #GivingTuesday Giving Tuesday is an important reminder of the value of giving back. Just having done my year end donations on my IPad from my Fidelity Charitable Donor Advised Fund, I thought I’d share a few principles that guided my giving. 1) Supporting organizations that I volunteer for or serve on their boards. Most major funders look for 100% participation from board members. Consider using as matching gifts that help encourage others. 2) #givelocal. Directly to local nonprofits supporting those in need or to local community foundations who will have a good sense of needs and worthy organizations. 3) Bolstering organizations helping populations vulnerable to bad policy choices from the incoming administration and/or supporting democracy. 4) Journalism. Local, public purpose and advocacy. We need the 4th estate now more than ever. 5) Organizations helping improve economic mobility including broad access public and non-profit higher education institutions. 6) Engaging my children by supporting them in causes they care about. All reinforced by encouraging friends to do the same. We all can do our part.

MP candidates, esp Labour, please pay attention - And start telling the voters the truth. Regular taxpayers recognise the need for taxes for better public services and paying their fair share, but are sick of private companies ripping off the public and the much better off (esp millionaires with offshore accounts) not paying their fair share. Increasing capacity of HMRC to collect over £40bn taxes due, shutting down farce of Company House process which allows individuals to benefit from corporate benefits, and simplifying system would be easy first steps.
